Staying at Hua Tian Century Hotel, Liuzhou was a good overall experience, it's always hard being a westerner in China with the language barrier but by staying at this hotel is was made a little easier. Positives Western toilet - YESSSSS The overall look of the hotel was run down but I have now learnt that even the new building are like this. Throughout the entire hotel is was very clean and tidy. The staff were extremely nice to me. Dry cleaning was amazing and only cost $6.50 AUD for a full suit and shirt. Really close to everything and 1 block from the newest MASSIVE shopping complex. Negatives The beds were like sleeping on a plank The western restaurant isn't, the Chinese restaurant was but had mostly authentic Chinese and looked all head, feet, and other unknown advertised The entire hotel (and most places in Liuzhou) are smoking areas including lobby's and rooms. In my small business suite I have 7 ashtrays. The air conditioning couldn't really keep up in this hot weather/humidity. All in all if I need to returns to Liuzhou I will stay here again.

“Staff Unfriendly”

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 25 days. The location was good the room quite comfy but the reception staff were not helpful and unfriendly which spoiled everything. My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 25 days. The location was good the room quite comfy but the reception staff were not helpful and unfriendly which spoiled everything. We got an incredible rate to stay this long as it was the hotels anniversary. The room attendants were okay but the reception staff that were the hotels front line were very disappointing. there were no smiling faces or welcome and everything was a burden to them. If I was the owner i would replace them all with friendly staff. It ruined our time at the hotel. And I might add that I am Australian but my wife is Chinese and comes from that city. She thought they were very rude.

It boasts 4 stars, but that may only be according to the Chinese hotle standards. Anyway, the hotel is still decent; ample sized room, functional and clean bath/shower with good water pressure, nice spaces for storing clothing, water cooker and fridge, etc. The bed, typical of many traditional Chinese hotels is quite hard, but it's very quiet, so we managed to sleep well every night. Breakfast is in the restaurant next door, up the stairs. It's Cantonese fare, written in Chinese, with very few pictures. You're given an extensive menu on which you can check off any of the delicacies of your choosing for your breakfast. We had a Chinese friend fill it out for us the night before, so we did alright with that. There was only their green tea available to drink with this (large) meal; no black tea and no coffee. (But hey, when in Rome...) The big plus about this hotel is the location. It's between a mall and a shopping street - both only a couple blocks away. And the Liuhou city park! Leaving the hotel, going to the right and crossing the street, you'll be at the edge of a their park, and a beautiful one at that! It has a nice small lake that you can cruise around in on a rented boat - peddle and electric- many different areas, such as the Chinese garden, various small temples It was a very hot day we we came across this gem in the city center and we enjoyed just strolling around and sitting and resting under the shade of the trees to cool ourselves. It's what I like best about being in Liuzhou.
