“Nice place ”

Reception staff very nice , I met melody and she listen to very carefully inspite if having communication gap , still everything was resolved.. Whenever I visit Suzhou hotel indigo is going to be my only choice.

“Nice and wonderful ”

“Not up to standards compared to other Indigo.”

It's actually hard to write this review as Indigo is my favorite IHG brand. But unfortunately Indigo Grand Canal just wasn't up to par. Mainly the problems are around cleanliness. I booked 3 rooms during spring festival. After we checked in and we opened my parents inlaw room, the stench was horrendous. It smelled like an open sewer. We immediately contacted service as it was not possible to stay in that room. So disappointed as I really wanted them to have a good, relaxing time as they had gone through a hard period before. Not a good first impression. The second room they got, no smell but just very stuffy. The air conditioner could not be properly adjusted like in the other 2 rooms. In our bathroom, I found a loose screw on the floor. Which is quite dangerous if you step on it at night. I moved it to the side to see if it would be removed as part of housekeeping. Unfortunately it was there for the four days, that means our bathroom was not cleaned properly. Again disappointing and dangerous. Personally I dislike the design of the room. Nothing is functional. The night stand is round and has no drawer so there is nowhere to put things. The bathroom has no wall or barrier besides the mirror so when you wash your hands or face and you splash, the water hits the bed. So impractical. Have a visit to Indigo Dishui lake to see how to design a beautiful yet practical room. On the positive side, the facilities are nice. And especially the staff are very organized. Being spring festival, the hotel was rather busy but the breakfast was extremely well organized. We barely had to wait and tables were cleared quickly. The food was a good standard and plenty of choice. I added one star for the service. The location is great. There is a mall attached to the hotel with many good shops and restaurants. Also to get Suzhou attractions, the location is very central so easy to get around. Overall it was just not what you expect of the Indigo brand. First impressions matter and unfortunately our first impressions were not good.

“A broken glass ruins the stay”

The room is nice, and the facilities are great. However, we accidentally broke a glass during our stay. We told the front desk agent about it in the morning upon check out, and asked them to check the room if needed.
