This a modern luxury 5 star hotel in center of Wuxi. Room is big and the beds are soft and comfortable. Everything are up to standard except the cold service in the frontdesk, I think they should have more training.

Stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel Wuxi recently for whilst in China for business. Stayed 5 days in one week split over two stays. Normally I would stay in the Hyatt Regency so was interested to see what the Intercon was like. The hotel is typical of hotels of its period with grand marble areas and rooms that would of been top of the league when built. I would say the rooms are due a refurbishment/modernisation now as lots of the original trappings are wearing and or look a little tired. I have added some pictures to show what I mean. Staff were friendly and attentive so no issues with getting what you need. Struggled with the room temperature a bit as despite what you see the room don't actually have proper air conditioning. They use a force air system that works well when its cold but not so well when its hot. I had to ask for a portable air con to be delivered to try and cool the room. For reference we are talking 25 degree C heat which isn't great for sleeping. Breakfast was great and was a typical Chinese hotel spread. be warned whilst the hotel has some western dishes as is my experience in China things like fried eggs and scrambled eggs are cooked and then left to go cold. There is no understanding of how the food should be served, which is hot. However, its China not the UK so you work round it. The biggest disappointment was the food availability. The buffet had stopped which meant just the formal Chines and Formal Japanese restaurants were open. As a single western traveler getting back to the hotel late in the evening this meant room service was really the only option. Yes you could go out or order in but that's not always what you want to do at 7-8PM every night. The hotel is nice, needs some attention to detail but given the option it would still be the Hyatt as a first choice for me.

“Needs Refresh!”

Old and dated. In need of refreshment. Our room was weirdly designed for a large room and had mold stains and peeling paint. Outside is kinda dirty with construction and no greenery.

Over the last year the Hotel really lost quality: The gym equipment is worn and damaged, no minibar in the room, lobby bar staff unfriendly and bad service, breakfast in a room without windows, hot dishes are cold
