The hotel facility reflects the facade of ancient Chinese history. We stayed there for a week while touring various historical sites mainly the two square miles containing Forbidden City next to the Tiananmen Square. We went touring the Great Wall from this motel on tour bus. The high speed internet service was available 24 hours a day but the Face Book websites were blocked and unable to use them. Air conditioner worked fine for us. We reserved the hotel with meals. The rooms are in western motif with firm mattress (queen size) bed in our room. There is exercise, and sauna rooms and massage parlor.The price is reasonable compared to the hotel facilities near the major Beijing attractions. The front desk staffs' English comprehension are satisfactory. Had minor repairs in the bathroom and the problem was fixed within 24 hrs. If you can't speak or write Chinese, do not try to go out and tour the city by yourself. Best is to go with a tour group. Beijing Nanyuan Airport is about 11 miles; and China Metro Station is about a mile (1.37 km). Overall - nice accommodation.

Flying in from Miami I was attending an award ceremony at the opening of the newest Museum in China which hosts a permanent display of Interior painted snuff bottles.Many top ranking government officials,the media and myself had been booked into another new attraction literally two minutes walk away.The Huashanyuan Hotel is also a spa built in typical ancient Chinese style with gateways and driveways surrounding a small lake with a bridge and a bench or two to ponder Confucius under the weeping willow trees. The reception was warm and welcoming,fresh local teas were offered at check in,there is a slight language barrier and the English needs to be improved,but is made up for by smiles and courteous gestures,On the ground floor there is an adequate cafe serving local and Western dishes most of the day and of course breakfast to all guests.The rooms have all the mod cons and are fresh,clean and comfortable.Sizes differ by your own budget and as it is built to host conventions some suites are the size of most peoples apartments,officials from the Government expect old style service with pomp and ceremony and its all available here.There are numerous restaurants within the internal courtyards able to cater for a mass of guests,all of which I was able to experience for myself on this trip.......................... One free afternoon I ventured to the front facade where the Spa is located and decided to try it,here again the language barrier is a minor problem.Shown a card printed in English just as bad as the spoken I picked out what I thought would be an experience, it was indeed.Go and change,take a shower,wrap yourself with a towel and then an escort to the spa waters for a timeless dip in the hot spring.The decor could be the inside of a palace or a fortress,strong,contained but above all peaceful built with small bridges it has a feeling of antiquity,so just float,soak and ponder whats next. A fresh towel was offered and a gesture to follow up a staircase to private rooms for the ultimate massage of two hours. The rooms are small but well appointed,traditional music plays softly in the background and there goes all your worries as you are lulled into a feeling of total calmness.There is a choice of male or female masseur,and I chose the latter...........There is no need for communication as the program starts by the minute as is totally chorographed to perfection.The staff know some English words and phrases are learned parrot fashion so I was able to communicate.The service ranks as the best I have ever experienced,I returned to my room three hours later.I returned to the spa pools as there was no time limit on bathing in the hot springs.I was happy and refreshed a wonderful calming experience. Prices are exceptionally reasonable,the spa experience was about $150.00 and the hotel rooms started at approximately the same,less out of season and more at convention times.The hotel is an awe inspiring gesture to retain the majesty of what China was in the past,definately a trip back in time but with all mod cons.Location is on the outer beltways and built in the village area known for antiques and furniture.Downtown Beijing is a 20 minute taxi ride.If you want time to relax for yourself try a weekend or at least take time to try the spa.Its well worth the adventure.I will definately go back when in the area..................
