“Lovely room, clean and comfortable”

Lovely room with a very comfortable bed. I had a room which faced a busy main road, there was some noise from the traffic but I didn't keep me awake. Free Wi Fi and a good choice of both western and chineses dishes at breakfast.

The room was a good size with a view of the street. Comfortable bed and pillows clean bedding and good quality towels. Bathroom was clean. Request on over easy but be sure to stand and offer your plate for the egg or it will be overdone. Restaurant does a nice Western range of food in the evening as we were unable to find anything local serving Western food. Good pizza and delicious spring rolls but the beer is warm as locals think cold beer is bad for you!

“Good place to stay”

Room is clean and cozy. Location is good to get to most of the busy district yet is very quiet. Hotel is little bit dated though, one can see visible water marks on the wall paper. There is a Gym, but it was not open at 7:00am in the morning during my stay.

Attendants at the breakfast area are polite and observant, they found me stirring my coffee with a knife (I couldn't locate a spoon or a stirrer) so a lady personally came over to hand a stirrer. Front desk personnel speak English and gave me the best exchange rates among the three hotels I stayed in China. I highly recommend converting money here if you need. Room service is as expected from a hotel of this category. Be careful of the 3 or 4 different kinds of water bottles placed in the room and bathroom counters. Some of them are not complimentary whereas one kind is. Just ask for the cleaning crew to replenish the free kind, they'll happily do so. View out of my window was beautiful and the box of jasmine tea with an electric kettle to warm up water was a very nice touch. As in many hotels throughout China, the hotel provides complimentary cloth slippers, toothbrush kit, sewing kit, shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc. They do not have an iron inside the room but if you ask front desk for for, they'll have an ironing board and iron delivered to the room at no cost. For shopping, I had a local introduce me to Kangda shopping center, two blocks on the right of this hotel. If you like tea, the counter on the first floor has great selections. This isn't a mall category shopping area, but a local grocery type place where you can local foods, clothing, luggage, toys, kitchenware etc. Liu Xiang street is about 15 min by taxi, which by the way, are all electric in the entire city! If you don't want to venture far for dinner, western dinner is served at the same area as breakfast with a set menu starting with 3 courses at 78 Yuans. If I went back to Taiyuan, I'd stay here again.
