This is a really beautiful hotel right across from Yingze Park (which is a beautiful park!) The rooms are clean and comfortable, the bathrooms are western and clean. There are also some friendly English-speaking staff here, which is incredibly helpful in Taiyuan, which really isn't an international city by any stretch of the imagination. I think this hotel is probably the best choice in Taiyuan for foreigners. The negatives: very hard beds (but this is the norm in China). You won't get any help hailing and communicating with taxi drivers (though they will write your destination down for you.) No concierge was on duty when I was here. However, overall, it was a very good experience.

Spent one night in this hotel after booking in internet. Location is convenient, the room they gave us was clean and comfortable and the staff was speaking good enough English. The room temperature was set somehow at a low 24 degrees, and since the windows are single glazed this made the room a bit… lisää

Spent one night in this hotel after booking in internet. Location is convenient, the room they gave us was clean and comfortable and the staff was speaking good enough English. The room temperature was set somehow at a low 24 degrees, and since the windows are single glazed this made the room a bit cold at night. Did not have breakfast in the hotel, so I cannot rate the food. If I have to stop again in Taiyuan I would not mind to stay here again.

The "old' location of this hotel is closed - don't worry about any reviews of it. The hotel is very nice. We stayed there for 4 nights. Not much English spoken, but the staff tries their best. The "old' location of this hotel is closed - don't worry about any reviews of it. The hotel is very nice. We stayed there for 4 nights. Not much English spoken, but the staff tries their best. The beds are rock hard, which we hear is Chinese traditional. Very clean & well staffed. One morning, there was no hot water for about an hour - not fun. Very reasonable rates - I think we paid a little over $100 / night Restaurant has a very nice Western / Eastern buffet for breakfast & dinner.

“historied hotel in taiyuan”

After elaborate design,the room was just full of romance. the hall was so spacious that everyone saw the ceremony from anywhere. I just saw the short moive introducing their love story, and imagined how happy they would be in their furture life. lovely memory in this hotel.

“The old east wing is shabby, but clean, affordable, and well located”

I spent 2 nights in the older east building. Unlike the fancy (and expensive) west building, the east building is long overdue for renovation. I spent 2 nights in the older east building. Unlike the fancy (and expensive) west building, the east building is long overdue for renovation. The wallpaper was peeling, carpet and tile were worn, etc. Nonetheless, my double for single use was clean and comfortable and met my needs quite well, all for a very low rate. The staff at the east building reception desk were eager to help, although they spoke little English; one of them even walked me around the block to make sure I found the restaurant I was seeking. The staff at the west building spoke English well and were always available to assist. Breakfast in the east wing was included in my room charge. A substantial Chinese buffet was available on both days. On the first day, but not the second, there was also a person preparing eggs - the scrambled eggs with herbs were delicious. Coffee-drinkers should take be forewarned, though - the coffee was overly strong and instant.
