“Hairy”

Got a free upgrade to a large suite room, but I'm not very happy with the stay. The carpets are dirty, filled with human hair. I don't think they vacuum properly... or at all. Got a free upgrade to a large suite room, but I'm not very happy with the stay. The carpets are dirty, filled with human hair. I don't think they vacuum properly... or at all. The bottom of the provided single use slippers are full of hair after taking only a few steps. Pool seems closed forever. That said, the staff were friendly. The location is convenient for subway. The room furnishing are very old. The place desperately needs a serious renovation and housekeeping needs retraining on carpet cleaning.

“Okay, but run down”

The former Renaissance Hotel hasn't renovated after taken over. The staff don't speak english at all. The standard breakfast and service are continously decreasing I will not come back for my Next stay.

“Perfect location but ordinary rooms”

On my way from the train station to the hotel, it took the taxi driver quite a while to find the hotel as its name was changed recently. It would be a good idea to have the telephone number of the hotel handy, so the taxi driver can call the hotel for directions. The hotel is in a perfect location… lisää

On my way from the train station to the hotel, it took the taxi driver quite a while to find the hotel as its name was changed recently. It would be a good idea to have the telephone number of the hotel handy, so the taxi driver can call the hotel for directions. The hotel is in a perfect location as the subway train station (Xiao Bai Lou or Little White Mansion) is directly opposite. There are many shops and fast food chains, cafes in the vicinity. The Tianjin concert hall is also right opposite the hotel. There are also numerous bikes for share parked outside the hotel. If one has a WeChat account with an App, one could use these bikes for tour of the Wudaidao Foreign Concession region, where a myriad of classical Western architectures built more than a century ago can be found. This area is only a short walk from the hotel. I did not try any of the hotel food during my 3 day stay, as there are so many choices of Western and local foods just outside the hotel. In fact, the renown Kiessling restaurant (over 100 years old), which is the oldest Western restaurant in the city is still open for business, and it is almost adjacent to the hotel. There is a good indoor pool in the hotel. However the water temperature was a bit on the chilly side. For location, this hotel is hard to beat. If one is not too demanding regarding the rooms, which are somewhat dated with average amenities, then this hotel should be on your shortlist.
