“Convenient and reasonably priced local hotel”

Very conveniently located near exit of Tangzixiang station on the subway No. 6 line direct from the airport. We did not eat breakfast there as our flight was early in the morning. Very conveniently located near exit of Tangzixiang station on the subway No. 6 line direct from the airport. We did not eat breakfast there as our flight was early in the morning. The hotel staff offered to pack the breakfast for us to takeaway. Extremely friendly and helpful staff gave us directions to the night market nearby, and helped to call a taxi for us at 5.30am. Only drawback was the cigarette smoke in the room. Even though we requested it beforehand, there is no 'non-smoking' room, but they will try to air the room before your stay.

“Affordable luxury with good location and service”

We were very happy with our choice of accommodation in Kunming, we booked it based on the good reviews in here, and were not disappointed. We were very happy with our choice of accommodation in Kunming, we booked it based on the good reviews in here, and were not disappointed. Check in was handled efficiently, our room was on the 9th floor, and was beautifully appointed. Nice bed, great bathroom facilities and very cozy and quiet. Free and very fast LAN internet offered in each room. Fresh fruits every day delivered to your room, as well as newspaper (Chinese only). The bathroom is designed to give you the option of seeing through, although you can use the curtain provided to block it, we find that amusing. The only down side was the dismal selection of breakfast, most choices are Chinese, with very little Western choice, not even eggs! Kunming is building underground train at the moment, there will be a station right near the hotel. It was worthy to mention the friendly and helpful door man, always ready to asset us with getting a taxi. This hotel is about 10 min walking to the city centre.

“Good but not used to foreigners”

Stayed there one night after flying in late and before moving north in the morning. Arrived at the hotel very late - around 1 am - to check-in with two very tired kids. Stayed there one night after flying in late and before moving north in the morning. Arrived at the hotel very late - around 1 am - to check-in with two very tired kids. Check-in took forever, going back and forth to some computer, photocopying passports, asking random questions via translation app (the front-desk man spoke no English, fair enough, we’re in south-western China) etc. Our blood starting boiling a little bit when the guy paused our check-in to check-in Chinese guests arriving after us, and taking no rush in that process before resuming our check-in. After well over 30 minutes my wife had had enough and communicated in basic but apparently sufficiently clear mandarin that enough was enough, grabbed our passports and room key and went up and put the kids to bed. When checking out the next morning, we were told that they hadn’t managed to complete the check-in and needed to do it again, and another 20-25 minutes process begun. Simply amazing! We have never had any issues with checking in to the any of the many hotels we lived at in China, neither before or after. It is normally a five, max 10 minutes process. That said, the room was clean and quite nice, comfortable beds, no complaints there. Breakfast was good although strictly limited to Chinese breakfast items. Can’t say much about location since we headed out from Kunming in the morning.

The Haitian Hotel is a large hotel with adequately furnished rooms. I got the impression that it is well-managed but is not ready for tourists. We arrived at 20:40 and the 2 restaurants had already closed. The lobby has no English, the restaurants even less. The breakfast menu offers Chinese dishes… lisää

We arrived at 20:40 and the 2 restaurants had already closed. The lobby has no English, the restaurants even less. The breakfast menu offers Chinese dishes only. I have to say that everyone was extremely friendly and helpful but communication was hopeless.
