What a fantastic hotel. One in which I would not hesitate to stay at again. I arrived on a rainy night, and check-in was fast. Victoria upgraded my room and my jaw dropped when I went inside. It was huge, clean, and so well decorated. I felt completely spoiled. Because of the rain and because it was already dark and my first night in a new city, I asked Victoria to help me place a delivery order on a delivery app. You need a Chinese phone number to do so, so Victoria input her own number and called me when the order came. She sent it up via the hotel's delivery robot! The awesome service doesn't end there. When I checked out, I asked the front desk for some tape to hold together my phone cord, which had somehow gotten frayed. They did even better. They gave me a brand new charging cord! I tried to pay for it, but they would not hear of it. The hotel is centrally located, though West Lake is about a 10-15 minute walk. However, many places to eat just outside of the hotel. For example, a Michelin-recognized noodle restaurant is just around the corner with a 2-minute walk. Standout rooms and even better service. Very reasonably priced. Don't hesitate to stay here.

A great little hotel. Rooms are beautifully designed and fit out. Great location also, walkable to the lake. Service very nice also. Shout out to staff members Vicky, Gavin and Tom. Things I did not like: the relentless American video playing in the elevator; the dangerous eye level door lift storage. Main gripe: the website says bicycles are available however I was told none were: “big repair for long time”. Fortunately one of the staff helped me rent one on the street with Alipay. Hilton - this is on you. Get it off the website or get the bikes fixed. Suggestion: a drinks menu in English.

I chose Canopy by Hilton Hangzhou West Lake because it offers easy access to both West Lake and in77 Mall — right at the heart of Hangzhou's most charming rhythm. From a high floor on a clear day, the soft silhouette of West Lake can be seen in the distance, quietly framed within the window. The Hilton bed is wonderfully comfortable, with pillows offering just the right amount of support. The room is spacious, with warm sunlight gently streaming through the window. A Nespresso machine makes a fragrant cup of coffee to start the morning. A soaking bathtub invites long, relaxing baths, washing away the day's footsteps. And with a Dyson hairdryer, even the smallest details are thoughtfully taken care of. The housekeeping team is meticulous and attentive, making every corner feel clean and welcoming. Getting around is effortless. Even on a rainy day in Hangzhou, simply staying in the room feels like a quiet joy — listening to the rain, sipping coffee, soaking in the bath, and letting the mind wander. Rainy days in Hangzhou, it turns out, can be deeply healing.

5 night stay Upside: (1) Location - 10 minute walk to West Lake and downtown. 10 minute walk to nearest metro station (Ding'an Road, Line 1). Many modest restaurants, cafes, shops and services nearby. I booked a rate that didn't include breakfast, but had no issues getting breakfast each morning in the surrounding area (2) Room - Comfortable and fresh design, with good soundproofing. Was not disturbed by the club next door (3) Gym - Adequate for a hotel gym, with new and well maintained equipment. While small and windowless, good air-conditioning meant that it wasn't stuffy (4) Staff were helpful with arranging laundry and changing money into small bills/coins for the bus (need to use exact cash or AliPay app) Downside: (1) Style vs substance - First time I've stayed at Canopy, which seems to be Hilton's boutique/trendy brand. Maybe I'm getting too old, but I found the corridors and common areas too dark. There were fancy panels for turning lights on/off, but this meant that bathroom light switches were grouped with other switches by the entry door, several feet away from the bathroom entrance. Bar staff seemed confused between the "Welcome Drink" and daily cocktail hour (as informed by front desk)
