“Don't let the surrounding collapsed buildings dissuade you”

We enjoyed our five-day stay at this hotel and would consider it a diamond in the rough while the neighborhood is in transition with collapsed buildings around the hotel being renovated. The rooftop bar has fantastic views! The bar is limited to hotel guests so some evenings there were only a handful of other people on the rooftop. The bartender was great! We had a suite style room with a sofa bed to give us more space. The bed was comfortable and room was reasonably quiet for the middle of the city. Hotel staff was very helpful during our stay. They arranged taxi transfer to the airport, got ice for us to enjoy ouzo on the rooftop on Monday when the bar was closed, and answered questions on things to do. The location is very convenient to shopping and many restaurants. The Athens Central Food Market is across the street. We got breakfast items there and explored the market. The Acropolis area is only about a ten to fifteen minute walk through interesting parts of the city. The immediate neighborhood of the hotel was intimidating the first day we arrived. Several abandoned buildings right around the hotel. One is being fully renovated so the neighborhood appears to be in transition. But we felt reasonably safe walking back to the hotel before midnight. We would stay here again.

“Convenient and high quality!”

We stayed at Play a few times. The location is very convenient and the rooms are excellent. We didn't have a chance to visit the roof bar though. You can explore the center on foot from this location and it is very close to the Metro station that can take you directly to the airport! Staff was h… lisää

We stayed at Play a few times. The location is very convenient and the rooms are excellent. We didn't have a chance to visit the roof bar though. You can explore the center on foot from this location and it is very close to the Metro station that can take you directly to the airport! Staff was helpful and even though breakfast is provided off-site it was exceptional (Zoubourlou)

“Mixing with the locals”

First time staying at this hotel, and I have to say I really liked it! I’ve stayed closer to the touristy end before, which was fine, but this spot had way more charm. Yes, there’s a fair bit of graffiti around, but the area feels super lively and local people out shopping, eating, and enjoying th… lisää

First time staying at this hotel, and I have to say I really liked it! I’ve stayed closer to the touristy end before, which was fine, but this spot had way more charm. Yes, there’s a fair bit of graffiti around, but the area feels super lively and local people out shopping, eating, and enjoying themselves without the usual tourist prices. The hotel itself is quirky in a good way. I was lucky enough to get upgraded to a bigger room, and it was lovely. The streets nearby are full of little restaurants and bars, so there’s always somewhere to grab a bite or a drink. It’s definitely not a cookie-cutter hotel or area, so if you prefer polished tourist zones, it might not be for you. But if you like stepping off the beaten path a bit, I’d absolutely recommend it.

The hotel is in a good location although surroundings are quite run down. The interior ist not very nice, but rooms are ok, beds comfortable. Reception very friendly, a highlight is the rooftop bar with splendid view of the Akropolis, although service here is very basic 19 out of 20 wines were not… lisää

The hotel is in a good location although surroundings are quite run down. The interior ist not very nice, but rooms are ok, beds comfortable. Reception very friendly, a highlight is the rooftop bar with splendid view of the Akropolis, although service here is very basic 19 out of 20 wines were not available.. Breakfast is in a cafe 5 minutes apart at a lively crossing with a good choice of set menus, oddly they let you ask every morning for the vouchers instead of giving them to you at check-in. Price rather high for what you get.
