Our family room on the top floor had 2 large double bedrooms separated by a glass sliding door. The well functioning bathroom, which also had a glass sliding door, led off one of the bedrooms. The rooms were excellant - comfortable beds, nice linens, very well heated, with complimentary bottled water. Overall the hotel would have rated 5 stars apart from the obsession with glass doors, glass shelves and a glass desk. The glass connecting door between the rooms meant that if the occupant put the light on in one bedroom it disturbed the person in the other room. Also, the sliding mechanisms made a clanking noise; not useful if one person got up in the night to go to the loo. Solid hinged doors would have been much more practical. Similarly with the bathroom. It was the same with the glass shelves and glass desk in one of the rooms. These were very stylish and OK for light clothing and papers, but we were reluctant to trust them with heavy or sharp items, such as cases or large cameras. A bit too much style over practicality. The breakfast buffet was very adequate, but not as generous in choice as we had experienced elsewhere on our trip.

Stayed here with my partner after booking a long weekend, not appreciating it wasn’t actually in Luxembourg centre! (Our mistake) Very friendly welcome when we arrived even though we were outside of the allotted check in time. Had a small bite to eat in the very popular Restone restaurant. I would guess this is more popular than the actual hotel as there are only 10 rooms which are individually named. Our room, the Catherine, was spotless and very cleanly decorated but the shower/bathroom were a little dated. Bedrooms are right above the kitchen and restaurant so be prepared for your room to smell a little of cooked food! The bed was large & very comfy. The hotel is excellently located and a short walk to the train station or buses. To eat every night in the the hotel restaurant you will need deep pockets but it would be worth it. Alternatively you are surrounded by good bars and restaurants. Extremely helpful young female manager let us leave bags with her after checking out as we had quite a while to kill till our taxi arrived. She also allowed us back in later to wait the remaining hour and a bit even though there is no foyer, so we sat in the restaurant. Highly recommend

“Decent hotel, friendly staff”

Hotel Herckmans is located in the center of Ettelbruck. The lower floors are a restaurant, the upper floors are the rooms for the hotel. Each room has a name, no number. Hotel Herckmans is located in the center of Ettelbruck. The lower floors are a restaurant, the upper floors are the rooms for the hotel. Each room has a name, no number. The guy at the reception walked with us up the stairs to show the room and explained everything in the room. Rooms are conveniently large. The coffee is actually very good. Bathroom is large and they have pads to create flavors in the shower. You don't see that every day. The breakfast was standard with a good offer of bread, croissants and different kinds of cheese and meat. It was sufficient to go hiking for a day.

Lovely staff who gave us a great welcome. The restaurant seems to be the main focus of the place though. Few rooms but all lovely and good comfy bed and great shower to wake ye up. The breakfast was fine, with a variety of croissant, but the same cheese and bread everyday did get a bit tiring. … lisää

Lovely staff who gave us a great welcome. The restaurant seems to be the main focus of the place though. Few rooms but all lovely and good comfy bed and great shower to wake ye up. The breakfast was fine, with a variety of croissant, but the same cheese and bread everyday did get a bit tiring. It didn't matter what time breakfast was it was always the same. And while I understand the owner doesn't want to have to stay for hours waiting for folk, everything was wrapped in clingfilm anyway, so seems bizarre to make it known exactly when you'll be having breakfast. Its in a great spot for getting round the small town. We were brilliantly close to where we were working, only a 5 min walk. Quiet little town, with a couple of good wee bars near. Basic but was grand by us. And friendly folk in hotel and bar next door. Never tried the food at hotel due to budget constraints but the smell was good. Enjoy!
