“Worthy”

I stayed here for one night and it was an okay-ish stay. Building looks old from the outside but the inside is well maintained. Room was okay but the towel looked a bit dated. Brekkie was amazing and the workers were so helpful. Thank you Katerina Hotel!

We stayed at this hotel for our program the next day. Arriving in the evening you can see how majestic this hotel building is standing on its own. We were provided with a reserve parking space at the front of the hotel. Checking in was easy since we have already made a booking. The lobby was so grand and it shows how the management has been maintaining it well. We were given room at the fifth floor. Room is spacious given it is an old property. Reading others review made me feel that they are refurbishing the rooms gradually since our room is well maintained. All the amenities are there except the iron is placed at the end of the corridor. The shower is one of the best I have experienced so far from a hotel such as this. Good speed and temperature. The linen is clean but the towel really showing its age. Time to start changing the towel so that it feels premium again. Breakfast spread is good with selections of local dishes and also international offerings. Not that many but enough for the guests to sample diffferent food. The local kueh is tasty and I feel that it is made in house and not frozen from the pack. The training room has been given a refresher but having tiles in the room does not help with sound insulation. They have installed new aircondition unit in the room so it is really cold. Overall, the management has done great job to maintain the property. Hopefully thay make changes that will improve customer experience in future.

“Classy Hotel”

This hotel definitely know how to run it place, it might not be as bz or touristy because in Batu Pahat not in Klang Valley, but the owner sure know how to keep it classy. The room is clean, comfy might show sign of age, but overall still being very well maintain.

We would like to add some reviews concerning our 3-day stay in The Katerina Hotel. 1)We request a smoking room for the 5 rooms that we booked. Upon arrival, we did not receive any. 2) During our registration, the staff did not follow the details of our passports. Only the 3rd time then the documents have been filled accurately. 3) The cost of the breakfast that was stated in our document is RM30. But the receptionist said RM35. Not sure what is going here but kinda disappointed.

We spent one night at Katerina Hotel during our visit to Batu Pahat in June. The hotel is situated in a small, quiet town about 124 km from the CIQ checkpoint, making it a practical stopover if you happen to be in the area. The staff were generally polite and efficient, and check-in was smooth. The hotel itself has an old-school charm — stepping inside felt like being transported back to the 1980s, typical of small-town hotels in Asia. That said, many of the facilities appear to be aging and in need of maintenance. We noticed stains and patches in the bathtub, and the room’s floor was covered with paper-thin laminate. The beds were quite light and moved easily, and power outlets were limited, which could be inconvenient for travelers with multiple devices. What stood out was the view from our room — it opened up to a wide expanse of farmland with a lush green mountain in the background. It was unexpectedly picturesque and serene, especially at sunrise. The hotel offers a buffet breakfast at RM38 per adult, but the spread was fairly limited. We eventually decided to drive to a nearby McDonald's for breakfast instead. All in all, I would only recommend this hotel if you have a reason to be in Batu Pahat. For the price, it’s probably one of the more reasonable options in the area. It’s not luxurious by any means, but it serves its purpose for a short stay.
