We had a great time. To be honest, ads and description don’t prepare you well - a shocker when we checked into our chalet. I guess pricing contributes to the issue - it is definitely high for what it is. Which is old, worn, very far away from anything you can consider luxurious. But settling in, the place grows on you: staff is really nice and super helpful, making the bookings is easy and efficient, the location is just great. Food is ok-ish if you vary with the floating restaurants across the river. Quite some wildlife to see easily too: monkeys, birds, (big) snakes. On excursions: not at all felt negatives that were mentioned by some other reviewers - ours were really great. I guess it depends what you book (the jungle trek and night walk indeed may disappoint). Our guides were super friendly, informative and fun. Canopy very touristic but the new place is well managed and hey as you’re there you can’t miss it. The only point to be aware of: expect hordes of mainly Dutch tourists - they all seem to pass Mutiara on their Malaysia trip. If you can live with that, and manage your expectations, don’t hesitate to go here. Also don’t think you easily find something better around if you are travelling with family.

The perfect place to experience Taman Negara. Staying inside the national park made everything very convenient and allowed us to fully enjoy the rainforest. The perfect place to experience Taman Negara. Staying inside the national park made everything very convenient and allowed us to fully enjoy the rainforest. The surroundings were beautiful, the rooms were comfortable and the staff were always helpful. A memorable experience. Although the food in the restaurant was not that good but you are in a national park after all.

“Rainforest Visit”

We spent 2 nights here, traveling from Malaka the Cameron Highlands. I think it is a great rainforest experience. Check in is easy. Some rooms are far (we were in 93, and it is almost a 1 km walk to the restaurant). The rooms are air conditioned (worked well). 4 complimentary small water bottles… lisää

We spent 2 nights here, traveling from Malaka the Cameron Highlands. I think it is a great rainforest experience. Check in is easy. Some rooms are far (we were in 93, and it is almost a 1 km walk to the restaurant). The rooms are air conditioned (worked well). 4 complimentary small water bottles and coffee are nice. The shower can be heated. Rooms are dated - there were lizards, and some Noises, but it is the rainforest after all. Our front door/lock did not work very wall. Again, paying for location. Property is beautiful - moneys and lizards and birds are around, along with plenty of Flowers. Food was buffet style. At every meal, there was something good with ample variety. I feel like the salad could have more options, and the soups were terrible. Excursions were variable. I would skip the night forest walk - bunch of people Waving flash lights to see insects. Canopy walk was fabulous - just be prepared for 1 Km walk back to the river over steep terrain. The rapids boat ride/waterfall/water excursion is was also below average. 1 Km walk over roots and steep muddy ground to some turbulent water, and swimming in rocky, brown water. Feel like they could be times better for crowd control. All in all, we liked it!

“Very nice spot to hang around for a few days.”

Very nice place to stay, great surrounding, okay food, Friendly staff. Only the night walk excursion is a big joke. Walking in the jungle with 85 other people on a “paved” trail. Way too crowded and you see of course nothing except a spider or frog here and there.

“Nice, but outdated”

It’s in the rainforest which makes it special and also convenient for the activities. We did the jungle night walk, the jungle trek to Bukit Terisek and a boat tour which were all amazing. Buffet and diner area were average. Cottages are nice, but outdated.
