Excellent location, on the beach and walking distance to everywhere. We did the ferry to Tarifa, which was good and worth it. Tanger is compact, interesting and has a really nice buzz. Food is excellent everywhere. Barcelo hotel is one of the best in the city and has everything (pool, gym etc). I've stayed in Barcelo before and Tanger keeps up the level with very friendly staff. Remember that the locals beep their car horns all the time and at all times day and night, hence enjoy the noise, its one of the things that makes morocco so good.

Well restaured hotel bringing it back to top luxury. The top restaurant offer an exceptional view on the beach. Celebrating the new year on rooftop was a nice experience, even if the bar tenders could not keep up with the orders. The rooms are very nice, even if not on front beach. Place it well driven, and maintenance well run. The windows frames fully reniewed need little inspections as the sealing is in some case not well adjusted, and you could, in winter, get trapped with a cold air flow. This is well located, decorated as an international set, international food, and professional service. (Do not get there if you look for Riad style) Our visit was in January, and à summer visit would be also a great experience. Many thanks for these nice days !

“Noisy and Problematic”

Barcelo Tanger is a modern hotel on the bay's main avenue. It is located on a six-lane road that runs east-west through the city. More on this later. The hotel has a commanding view of the beach and a wonderful dining area. The breakfast buffet is terrific, and the rooms are clean and reasonably well-appointed. The three-star review is because Barcelo has glaring problems that significantly affect the experience. The first is that it is on a noisy main thoroughfare. During our two-day stay, motorists sped up and down the avenue all night until dawn, honking their horns and revving their motorcycles. We were informed this is customary as a means of celebrating weddings. It happened both nights. We were on the third floor, and even with earplugs and a white noise machine, our sleep was frequently interrupted. In addition, on the first night, we were treated to a barrage of fireworks twice during the night. If you are a light or medium sleeper you should consider somewhere else. In addition, the bidet hose with which the toilet is equipped leaked and flooded the bathroom. It seemed to get worse on the second day. The automatic light in the bathroom stayed on all night the first night and would not turn off. It was broken the second night and would not turn on. Finally, I specifically inquired of the Maitre D'hotel about catching our seven o'clock train early on the third day. I asked for a boxed breakfast to go and was told the dining room opened at six o'clock and not to worry. We stood outside the dining room at the appointed time, and after ten minutes of waiting, I entered, only to be told the dining room didn't open until 6:30. We were grudgingly served breakfast in an empty dining room and barely made our train. If Barcelo addressed these kinds of problems, it would certainly be worth a higher rating. As it is, it feels like a place that is struggling.
