Yet, nothing could quite prepare me for the cinematic beauty of this jungle sanctuary. Architectural Poetry in the Jungle The residence is an aesthetic masterpiece, appearing like a film set emerging seamlessly from the natural aesthetic backdrop . Constructed from local stone and designed to blend into the habitat, every corner reflects a commitment to artisan detail. It sits precariously and beautifully on the edge of a wildlife lagoon—home to crocodiles—and just a ten-minute stroll from the ancient Mayan ruins of Cobá. The Experience of the Suite Checking into the King Suite was a moment of pure giddiness. Spanning two levels of living space, the room opens onto private terraces and a personal pool overlooking the rainforest. The sensory welcome is immediate: the air is thick with the scent of vanilla, orange, and coconut wafting from in-room diffusers, while a deep stone bath is prepared with organic oils and fresh flower petals. Lounging in the signature artisan hammocks as the "dawn chorus" of birds and geckos begins is a memory I will savor forever. The Art of Fragrance and Flavor The soul of Coqui Coqui lies in its Bespoke Perfumery. Stepping into the boutique is a heady, artistic journey where you are gifted a fragrance that captures the essence of the Yucatan. The lounge exudes a sophisticated boho elegance, where we were welcomed with artisanal non-alcoholic cocktails and homemade organic chocolate—a perfect prelude to the tranquility that followed. Service and Spirit The heartbeat of our stay was Elias. His gentleness, warmth, and priority of his guests happiness & his professionalism & sweetest attitude were truly extraordinary. He went above and beyond to ensure our experience was flawless, his smile and warmth is something I will remember always! He is a profound credit to the Coqui Coqui management. A Moment of Zen Do not miss the spa. We indulged in a couples’ treatment in what must be the most beautiful spa room in existence. The signature Mayan treatments are transformative, providing the ultimate relaxation between walks around the lagoon or exploring the ruins. Pro Tip: Staying at the residence allows you to reach the Cobá Archaeological Site right at the 8:00 AM opening, allowing you to experience the ruins in silent majesty before the crowds arrive. Though our road trip eventually pulled us away toward Bacalar, I left a piece of my heart in Cobá. I would & will return in a heartbeat to this jungle dream.

We visited Cobá today and it was truly extraordinary. Exploring the ancient Mayan ruins, climbing the pyramid, and biking through the lush jungle made the experience unforgettable. After such a unique adventure, we headed to Coqui Coqui — the perfect sanctuary to relax and recharge. The cherry on top was a soothing massage filled with wonderful aromas. The property itself is divine, beautifully decorated, and we were welcomed with genuine warmth and an engaging conversation with Andrés, the manager. The massage was simply perfect. An unforgettable day from start to finish!

The hotel is set in a beautiful & tranquil location on the edge of the lagoon near to the Coba ruins. Perfect overnight stay to visit this Mayan site. The design of the hotel mimics Mayan stone structures but is a little impractical both in & around the rooms with multiple sets of up & down access … lisää

The hotel is set in a beautiful & tranquil location on the edge of the lagoon near to the Coba ruins. Perfect overnight stay to visit this Mayan site. The design of the hotel mimics Mayan stone structures but is a little impractical both in & around the rooms with multiple sets of up & down access points. Especially as it was dark when we arrived and we were left at the door of our dark room. It took us a while with our phone torches to search for light switches. It looks good though & the rooms are nicely dressed with hammocks and other local artefacts. There is a relaxing main pool with loungers. The restaurant offers a very limited choice of good vegetarian food. There are one or two local restaurants nearby a short walk or taxi ride away. With a hotel as small as this, having only 5 rooms, providing good, attentive, professional & friendly service should be easy. Unfortunately we found this not to be the case at this hotel.
