I just traveled with two of my friends to see the butterflies and decided to stay there. We were very pleased with this place, it was comfortable, clean, quite and beautiful, All the employees were super nice and helpful and the chef was outstanding, he even prepared for me a green juice that was not in the menu (Thank you for that) and all the food was delicious (Do yourself a favor and order the queso fundido). The little casita was so cute, clean and comfortable, the shower was clean and had hot water. You can walk or spend time outside next to the pool which was a beautiful space. We will totally go back and we highly recommend this place

Quiet, spacious rooms on outskirts of town. There is ample parking on the premises and space to walk about. The staff was outstanding. For example, when we had an issue with the toilet at 1am, they arrived in 5 minutes and took care of it. Even more impressive, when we needed a doctor the front desk manager personally called and the doctor arrived in about 2 hours. He spoke excellent English. For medicines, she arranged a taxi to take me to the nearest pharmacy. The driver went in with me and made sure we got the proper order. The food at the restaurant was good, including coconut shrimp for dinner. Fresh fruit and delicious pancakes were available for breakfast. There are also a number of Mexican dishes to choose from. The pool and playground are added benefits if needed.

“Comfortable, relaxing place to stay while visiting Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve”

February, 2018, traveling by car. Like many foreign travelers visiting this part of Michoacan, we came to see the monarchs! All we required was a comfortable, clean and pleasant place to stay for the 2 nights surrounding our trip to the biosphere, and Hotel Villa Monarca fit the bill well. The people at the desk were super nice and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable, fresh bottled water was provided (and given to us at no extra cost when we needed more) - the shower was clean and had hot water, wifi worked well. The only downside is that the food at the on-site restaurant wasn't worth eating. After 1 dinner, we wouldn't even consider breakfast there. There is an outdoor swimming pool, which my 10 year old used... I didn't detect any chlorine, but the water was crystal clear and clean. All in all, it was a nice place to stay and as long as you don't mind finding a source of food away from the hotel, I recommend it.
