Stayed there during a Motorcycle trip. The owner, Guillermo, was a a spectacular host even driving my friend to the bus station when his motorcycle broke down. His kindness and the attention to detail in the home were much appreciated. Darren

We spent a week at the Casa Frida for día de los muertos. I know it sounds crazy, but I was nervous because this place was so affordable. I trusted the Trip Advisor reviews and I was not disappointed! We stayed in the Matisse room which is off the street and was very quiet. It has a king sized bed that was slightly firm but quite comfortable. It was clean and has a lovely view of the courtyard below. Every morning Guillermo and Erika made delicious breakfasts. There were Mexican sweet breads, fruit and a different main dish each day. My favorite was the enchiladas with green and red salsa. SMA is a really cool city we walked everywhere. However, BRING COMFORTABLE SHOES! The roads are cobblestone in most areas and there are huge hills. (Not to worry, cabs are everywhere if you prefer) One word of warning: Casa Frida is high above the centro and it is a very very large hill to climb to get there. I had read this and thought, how hard could it be? I was impressed with the hill! The rooftop has a nice sitting area with an incredible view of the city. We had a rental car and had no trouble parking on the street right outside the hotel. Tip: don’t walk down the main road from the hotel. On your way down the hill turn right and follow the road to the left (down). You will come to stairs which are much easier to take than the road with the cars. I 100% recommend Casa Frida! It was amazing, affordable, clean and comfortable!

“Can't Wait to Go Back!”

After a mind-numbing two years of Covid, I decided it was time to go for a much needed mental health break. I couldn't have stayed at a better place! Casa Frieda was comfortable, inviting peaceful and exactly what I needed. The staff was incredible and accommodating. While I was there, I got great recommendations for dining, a barber and other things I needed. I was a woman traveling alone and felt perfectly safe. I walked up the street at around 8:00 p.m. (after waiting too late to figure out what I wanted to eat) and came across a family with a taco "shop" between two buildings. They were the greatest people and food was wonderful. The breakfast was great. It wasn't a continental breakfast, but a full -blown breakfast with yogurt, breads, coffee and a delicious entre. My room was cozy (not small, cozy!), well-appointed and comfortable (there's that word again!) The atmosphere was visually pleasing as well. I enjoyed sitting in the living room and outside on the patio. Yes, it is situated on a very steep hill and the altitude kicked my butt the first day. There are plenty of cabs that are easy to flag, or Uber. If you don't like cats, you will after you meet Diego. My experience at Casa Frida was exactly what I was looking for, more than I expected and a great example of what hospitality should be.

We stayed here for 3 nights while on a long road trip from Yucatan back to the US. Our room was comfortable, the property was beautiful, great views from the rooftop patio, private and secure parking lot around the corner. One of my favorite parts of our stay were the excellent breakfasts of fruit, yogurt, sweet breads, and a different main dish - chilaquiles, sopas, enchiladas, etc served every morning. Only downsides to staying here is the long and very steep hill - we walked up and down a few times but in Centro there are plenty of taxis and Uber for about $60 pesos Guillermo is an excellent host and I would definitely stay here again
