Unless you have business or family there, you probably won't be in Zamora, except it has a hidden gem.... one of the finest gothic style stone churches in all of the Americas. The hotel is of a vanishing style in Mexico as international chains are taking over. The Meson has its faults, such as poor sound proofing between rooms, but the friendly sincere service and secluded atmosphere make it a retreat from the bustle of the town. I have stayed there enough over the years that the waiters who seem to work their whole life remember my name. The open air restarant has very good tradition local quisine that is well prepared without pretense. The hotel is old, there are no amenities like a gym or pool, but if want to experience the "real" everyday life in Mexico this is a good choice. I give the Meson high marks, but that is in the context of the community and local culture it exists in.

From the lobby to the room, the hotel is clean, with big green areas, a big parking lot, nice and smiling people working at. My room was clean, with light and fresh air enough. Nevertheless, my room was so noisy, because from it I could hear voices and noises from other rooms which were so unpleasa… lisää

From the lobby to the room, the hotel is clean, with big green areas, a big parking lot, nice and smiling people working at. My room was clean, with light and fresh air enough. Nevertheless, my room was so noisy, because from it I could hear voices and noises from other rooms which were so unpleasant at 7:00 am on Sunday. One of these noises was an impressive buzz coming from something like a drill or pump. Also, I think the breakfast should include some typical local food as corundas or uchepos.

We reserve the hotel online because of the rating. In general the hotel looks nice, big and green gardens nice trees, wide parking lot, something you expect in Michoacán. We reserve the hotel online because of the rating. In general the hotel looks nice, big and green gardens nice trees, wide parking lot, something you expect in Michoacán. I am sure the best thing was the restaurante, our reservation includes the breakfast and it was very good. Was a buffet with local (from Michoacán) dishes, our waiter was so nice, Miss Flores was also so nice with us and got for us some corundas (you can not visit Michoacán without try Corundas), I really recommend it. My complain was that our room had no good ventilation, smell like just painted mixed with some ugly odors from restroom. Its nos possible to leave the window open, because it has not protection and everyone can get in. The room has only one window. If far from Zamora downtown (about 3 miles) but just crossing the street you reach a lovely track for running, 1.5 miles long.

At first sight, this is the best choice for anyone visiting Zamora. But after a couple of nights there, real issues start showing the truth. Rooms are noisy, parking area is limited, the entire floor I was was under painting and everything smelled like fresh painting ( yes is good to renovate, but should avoid renting rooms under these conditions ) and the breakfast buffet had a lot of flies. Yes flies are difficult to get rid of, but it should be a solution. I consider administrators should take an eye to those small details. Not so bad compared to their competence, but really bad in a global standard.
