My wife and I are in our 60's and have been to the other Decameron resorts in Guayabitos. We both felt this one was the best of the 3. I have read other resort reviews and some people just can't be happy. We are very happy with this one. Will summarize our 2 week trip in point form: Local Area -Excellent beach with hard packed sand and wide flat expanse at low tide. -Beach well used by both tourists & locals. Children were always playing & digging in the sand. At times (weekends) beach was busy but did not feel crowded. -Blue bottle jellyfish were present this trip, never seen before – purple flag flying. 1st week water calm, 2nd week water rough red flags for 3 days - Many beach sellers present, but they were not intrusive. - In town, many shops with souvenirs and plenty of smaller mercados for groceries. No large grocery or department stores. There are more stores and some are slightly larger in La Peneda central district. - Have notice prices have increased on many items, Market items seemed too expensive HOTEL Pros: -Price extremely good for this trip! Nice feature to stay at one & play at three hotels. -Room had large soft pillows 3 per bed - Plug by night table – easy for a powerbar for CPAP & chargers - Elevators worked well, except one was down for 3 days. Fixed just before a busy holiday weekend. - Restaurant/ Buffet had plenty of food, Bars had good stock of decent products. lineups reasonable - Beach & pool chairs are comfortable. -English was spoken or understood by much of the staff. Improved - No towel cards Improved - Electronic door locks Improved – Heated pools They used to be soooo cold! - Recognized many workers working there from previous years. Good retention Cons: -Pretty hard bed – lots of tossing & turning. -No dresser in rooms for clothes, asked for extra suitcase rack. Nothing to hang stuff in room or bath. -Air con worked very well, but always seemed to direct onto a bed -Good hot water but fluctuating water pressure (on 6th floor anyway) -Had to ask for washcloths -TV only 3 English channels all of them news -Noises & music from pool area echoed up through up the whole hotel –but it did quieten down when the pool closed and after the bar activities around 10pm -No quiet area with normal height tables available at night to play games. -Restaurant/ Buffet lacked syrup for pancakes or French toast, Bananas infrequent but brought some when asked. No oatmeal (even though it was in drink form) -A la carte’s were troublesome to book and unable to cancel or change booking Would have like to see the A la carte’s more often also. 4 a la carte’s each open only 1 or 2 nights each

Had a great time here, it is very good for a3.5 star hotel, some of the people i heard complaining when there wanted a 5 star but seem to have forgot they paid for a 3.5 star hotel. Had a great time here, it is very good for a3.5 star hotel, some of the people i heard complaining when there wanted a 5 star but seem to have forgot they paid for a 3.5 star hotel. Resort was very clean, staff was great, not to many could speak english no problem everyone has a phone and use the translator on it. The food was ok never heard of anyone getting sick, drinks were ok , got a little inconvient after 9:30 to get a drink, but this resort is not a party resort nice and quiet here. My only complaint is their are no shelves or drawers to put your clothes in, dont really know that is, wife said well were packed to home. Pool area is good, The beach is beautiful ,, the flags here mean what they say about the safety of going into the water follow them. Would we return, you bet , looking forward to next year,all in we loved it here.

“2 wonderful weeks”

Myself and my travel buddy ( both early 60 females) were at this resort from January 7 to 21. We loved this resort, it was perfect us for the same reason others might hate it. Before my review I want to say research before you go anywhere. I have read reviews and can’t believe people complain about things they should check before they book. Example. 90 minutes from airport to resort. This is a small resort, 141 rooms in a U shape with opening towards beach. We loved this as it was not far if you wanted to pop up to your room from the beach. It is right in a little town that is very safe to walk in day or night. This is not a party hotel. You can have a blast, drink dance and have fun but it is not for young party people. Everything closes around 1 am. There are 4 bars: lobby, pool , beach and one above the snack bar overlooking the ocean. The animation staff stays mostly in the pool area doing activities such aerobics and fun games for all ages. Food. We found the food pretty good. There was a omelette station for breakfast with a very nice lady making omelettes to order. They had fruit and cheeses, waffles ect. Butter was not always available. Lunch was a variation of chicken , fish and sometimes pork chops that tasted to us like ham or peameal bacon. Lots of choices. There were also many ingredients to make a salad. They also served ice cream at lunch, this was delicious. For dinner they had theme nights: Mexican, Italian and Chinese, remaining nights were international. There is always a pasta station. One night I copped up fish , tomatoes and feta cheese from other areas and they put it in my pasta. There were always tacos. I would recommend that you not wait until 8 to go to dinner. When at all inclusive resorts I never eat out of the “ bins” the made to order is usually better. They had 2 kinds of home made soup at every lunch and dinner, highly recommended. There were times when items on the salad bar or bread area were empty, instead of waiting to get home to complain about this on a review please just ask a worker and they will bring more out. We did 2 ala cart meals never our resort and the second at the Marina resort ( more on that place later. ) Both were very good even though the pasta in my cannelloni was really a soft toco shell lol. The second one was seafood and was spectacular! You stay at one hotel and have use of the other Decameron resorts you can walk to on the beach. We walked over 2 days and hung out at the quiet pool at Coco, then had dinner at Marina one nice and buffet at Coco the other. All of the activities, announcements and shows are in Spanish only, signage and menus have English. Remember this is basically a Mexican tourist destination. I almost lost my cool a few times when fellow Canadians said “ there are too many locals” what do you expect you are in Mexico. Enjoy the real experience or go to the Mayan Riviera or Cancun. Staff. I can not remember everyone’s name but all we felt with were amazing. The ones that stuck out were Juan, at front of hotel that quickly became our friend and security also Dannie in same department. Sarahli a bartender and the slim male bartender who spoke perfect English and can’t forget the buffet waitress who alway had a huge happy smile. In closing I would have to say this is a perfect resort to visit if you are going to relax in the sun on a lovely beach, eat , drink and enjoy the true Mexican experience. Remember what you payed for the trip and what that would get you at home. We paid $125.00 a night for 14 days all in!
