I booked 2 nights for my husband’s Birthday and we are thrilled with our choice of hotels. From the second we walked into reception every detail was perfect. The service and hospitality, the room, the gardens . And “The View” from our room , from the restaurant and the docks , was absolutely stunning!! If we come back to Bacalar , Cristalino is where we’ll be . Highly recommend it and 5*****’s!

“Surprisingly stingy on room coffee, but otherwise nice”

We are often a get-up-and-explore kind of couple, but since in Bacalar it’s the water we want to explore, we opted for a lakefront resort. Our room is very nice, and the view of the water from our balcony is soooo nice. The tree canopy is high so you get the feel of nature, without it blocking the view. The Cristalino Hotel is very nice. The grounds are swept of leaf litter every morning and the lounge chair cushions are either taken in after dark every night or covered, to keep off the dew. The two small infinity pools are kept clean. The one in the sun has delightfully warm water, and the one in the shade is cooler (probably great when the air temperatures rise). In the morning when the cushions are returned, each chair gets a rolled up towel ready for use. The lounge chairs by the waterfront are very comfortable and a waiter/waitress will serve you drinks or food which you can pay for before returning to your room. The side tables on which you put your stuff are made of gorgeous wood (wouldn’t mind one of those at my own home!). The water has all the colors of blue you hope to see. Really quite magical. There are complimentary kayaks and SUPs that we quite enjoyed using. The water is cool, but still quite nice for a swim. Since it is also a spa, my husband and I have signed up for the couples massage and steam room this afternoon. Looking forward to it. The food in the restaurant is quite good, if a bit pricey. The huge glass doors open in nice weather for a lovely eating experience. The staff are all pleasant. The one negative is that they penalize you here for a multi-night stay by not replenishing the in-room coffee unless you pay (steeply) for it. I’ve never stayed anywhere where room coffee isn’t complimentary; and for what we pay here per night, I’m quite surprised it’s not complimentary here. If you come here for more than one night, I recommend bringing your own Nespresso pods.

“Slightly different”

A good hotel, rooms fine but was taken aback by being charged for the tea and coffee provided. Never has this happened to me anywhere in the world. The sensors went off in the bathroom at 3am and the light loudly clicked on and off every minute until some one came at 6am to disconnect. It happened… lisää

A good hotel, rooms fine but was taken aback by being charged for the tea and coffee provided. Never has this happened to me anywhere in the world. The sensors went off in the bathroom at 3am and the light loudly clicked on and off every minute until some one came at 6am to disconnect. It happened again with another light two nights later. You can only communicate via WhatsApp. No one on duty at night. You were lucky if your room was cleaned before 3pm. Food in the restaurant was very good.
