We had a wonderful 2-night stay at Mi Kasa Tu Kasa en Bacalar. The hotel is right on the water, and has a nice dock. There were kayaks and stand-up paddleboards for guests to use at no charge. The grounds of the hotel were lush and beatifully landscaped. The included breakfast was very good, and the lunch and dinner options we tried were excellent! Our room was very large and the bed was very comfortable. The a/c worked great, and there was a TV with Netflix. Our room even had a rooftop palapa, with a hammock, table and chairs. The hotel is a little way outside of town, but Emma was happy to call usva taxi when needed. The only downside of the location is that the hotel is near the highway, so there was some noise. Despite that, we loved our time at Mi Kasa Tu Casa!

Couldn’t recommend this place enough. Staff and service is outstanding, location is very peaceful and relaxing. Rooms are very spacious and the photos do not do this place justice. For breakfast you start with fruit, yoghurt and granola, followed by toast with Jam and butter. Finally eggs as you like them (would recommend the omelettes) There are Kayaks and paddle boards included for free which were a lot fun. The pier is a great place to get up early and watch the sunset or sit on an evening with some drinks. Your surrounded by nature here while sat on the pier we saw different types of fish and a family of cormorants diving for dinner throughout the day. We were lucky enough to see basilisk’s running through the grounds which are hilarious to watch. It’s not very often in Mexico I can say the hotels serve good wine but they certainly done well with their semi sweet vino blanco. The menu from the restaurant (open 0800-2200) although not extensive have plenty of mixed options for all palates and was very good standard.

Hotel is very pretty and not too far from the city and restaurants (you'll still need a car, walking might a little bit long). The dock is probably one of the nicest of the bay; it has 2 hammocks, 2 swings, 4 deckchairs and 2 tables, so plenty of options to relax. There are also 2 other smaller decks, one with 2 deckchairs and the other one with 2 chairs. They have 2 kayaks and 2 paddles that you can use for free which is awesome to spend some time on the lagoon. The room (#7) was clean and spacious. Small hotel so not too many guests therefore pretty quiet and relaxing. Staff was friendly but not everyone speaks English. Cons: no furniture or decoration inside the room beside the mattress. It would have been nice to have at least a table and a chair, and maybe some decoration on the wall or even a rug to make the room a little bit more warm. Breakfast is simple, not many options and in small portions (fruits, granola/yogurt, eggs), you better not be a big eater or you'll be hungry. Birds will wake you up, bring some earplugs. We did not notice the noise from the road. We haven't checked out the pool but it seemed nice and was cleaned every day. I would recommend just for the deck and the direct/private access to the lagoon.

“Great experience, horrible checkout..”

Rented two rooms for two nights. Check in was great, the rooms were very nice and clean. Breakfast was very good. Only issue we had was during our check out. Rented two rooms for two nights. Check in was great, the rooms were very nice and clean. Breakfast was very good. Only issue we had was during our check out. The other couple staying with us were asked to pay 200 pesos to the cleaner to clean hair dye off a towel. The couple showed the cleaning staff that the dye comes off with soap and water and they said it was fine. Six hours later they received a charge for $108 CA and a message through WhatsApp saying they had to replace a bath math, a towel, a pillow case and a sheet. It seems as they wanted cash and after the other couple said no to paying cash, they decided to charge their credit card for much more out of spite.
