Centrally located next to the historic fort, city hall and the city plaza, it is a great place to explore the small town of El Fuerte. It is a hotel created from three neighboring wealthy mansions including a gold magnate and Zorro’s family which is why the place is more like a maze. It is also why Zorro’s statue is in the middle plaza and there is a Z on the roof. When you enter, there is a small garden. The path is cement and tile. Our room was quite big but there was no safe, microwave, fridge or closet. Bed was soft and the room clean. The toilet flush was slow. The big downside was the early morning roosters and dog barking from neighbors which woke up several guests. There is an outdoor pool which was warm. The hotel caters to tour groups who fill up the dining room and pool areas so independent families may or may not get a place to sit. Food was good.

I only stayed here 1 night but I would stay here again. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of picture spots. Room was normal size with a nice bathroom. Excellent restaurant staff. I only stayed here 1 night but I would stay here again. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of picture spots. Room was normal size with a nice bathroom. Excellent restaurant staff. The hotel is family friendly and has a pool. The front desk staff were very help in helping me change one of my reservations and also coordinated an excellent private driver to Los Mochis for me. The hotel is located a short distance from the main plaza and has shopping and restaurants near by. Perfectly safe so feel free to walk around at night. Plenty of people around. Warning: the mosquitos/biting bugs are no joke in this city. Apply repellent the second you arrive downtown and take Benadryl cream with you. One of the 4 Baldarama hotels I stayed at on this trip. All were excellent.

“Nice hotel but caters to large groups”

There are several different buildings here, so your experience will depend on which building you’re assigned. Some areas of the hotel look absolutely delightful with courtyards and flowers. There are several different buildings here, so your experience will depend on which building you’re assigned. Some areas of the hotel look absolutely delightful with courtyards and flowers. Our room was charming, but unfortunately it overlooked the noisy road where they have a little “train” driving around full of drunks making noise until late. We would have had a nicer experience if we were in a more quiet area of the hotel. The door to the room is old and it had gaps and doesn’t seal properly so bugs enter the room. Note that no one speaks a word of English here so it can be frustrating at times. It’s close to the plaza so it’s nice to walk around. We didn’t look at the restaurant as it appeared to cater to large groups with a Zorro show. We stayed for one night, and it was good enough for one night, but I’d probably stay somewhere else next time.

“Excellent short of one minor thing”

A great experience all around! Enjoyed the tour of El Fuerte, very scenic, excellent food and service. Would be five stars except we bought three bottles of the Zorro tequila to have them ship to us in the U.S. . After waiting an appropriate amount of time after returning and no tequila we called … lisää

A great experience all around! Enjoyed the tour of El Fuerte, very scenic, excellent food and service. Would be five stars except we bought three bottles of the Zorro tequila to have them ship to us in the U.S. . After waiting an appropriate amount of time after returning and no tequila we called and was told they could not ship to the U.S.. Now months later we are still trying to be reimbursed. Recommend taking the tequila with you if you want to take it back to the states.
