We were travelling in a large motorhome but were able to park easily. We were travelling in a large motorhome but were able to park easily. We had a spacious comfortable room with a balcony on the second floor which was great as we were accompanied by our Border Collie. There was plenty of space for Monty to play in the grassed area. We loved the view from our room and the restaurant and enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast

“Room with a view”

A large room with sitting chairs, a mini fridge, and electric kettle. Also a balcony with tables and chairs to take in the view of the fjord and the grassy lawn. Bed was very comfortable. Free breakfast had good variety. Walkable to town if you don't have a car. Free parking if you do.

I stayed here while on a weekend road trip in southern Norway. I arrived a bit earlier than check-in time but was allowed to check in anyway. I stayed here while on a weekend road trip in southern Norway. I arrived a bit earlier than check-in time but was allowed to check in anyway. Parking outside was free and could take quite a lot of cars. My room was very spacious and even though I booked a single room it had a double bed. Each room here has a south facing balcony, I am guessing my balcony alone was 12 sq. m. The very large bathroom had a showercabinet and a seperate bath. Everything in the room was very clean although was showing its age a bit round the edges, nothing of concern though. Tea and coffee making and a mini frodge were provided in the room. The flat screen TV in the room was very big and could swivel to cover any part of the room. Only HD linear TV was available, but the wifi worked very well for streaming on personal devices. The reception, dining and bar areas all look recently renovated, very tastefully done and the bar had a pool table, shuffle board, darts and board games available. So far so good. I decided to have dinner in the hotel and ordered the Fish & Chips. After all, I was in a seaside town in Norway, good access to fresh fish, what could possibly go wrong? How wrong can you be. What I got served up could best be described a Brick and Chips. The fish was undoubtedly some frozen factory-made tapered rectangular lump of fish, coated in thick brown stuff pretending to be batter. The coating was hard to cut through and the fish was dry and chewey. Also the green pea side was served in a miniscule side cup smaller than a shot glass, half filled with liqidized pea. Never, in all my years eating out in Norway, have I been presented with such a terrible meal. Now - the owners could say - but you never tried our pepper steak! My response is that no self respecting kitchen with any standards whatsoever would serve the terrible meal they served up to me. It makes me skeptical to everything else on the menu. Probably also telling that nobody came and asked me how the meal was. Breakfast the nexy day was better, a reasonable if limited selection of bread (no toaster though), cold cuts, warm food including bacon and scrambled eggs and a proper coffee machine. All in all this is a more than OK place but it let me down big time with the horrible evening meal.

“Nice enough hotel on edges of Farsund.”

I only stayed here one night after working in Farsund. The hotel is some way out of the town centre and nicely positioned to look over the fjord or get a full on view of ships that are being repaired. I only stayed here one night after working in Farsund. The hotel is some way out of the town centre and nicely positioned to look over the fjord or get a full on view of ships that are being repaired. Check was quick and efficient, then it was an elevator ride down rather than up to the room. Inside, the room appears very dated, old fashioned furniture and fittings made it all look a bit tired. That said, it was still comfortable enough to get a good nights sleep. The restaurant area is quite pleasant, with a decent number of choices and good service. Options are limited in Farsund and this is as good a palce as any for a short stay - though not sure I'd want to holiday here.
