The El Dorado Classic Hotel is very conveniently located less than a block from the Plaza Mayor (main square) of Iquitos, and about two blocks from the street that overlooks the nearby tributary of the Amazon River. I spent two nights there; my room was quite comfortable, although the hot water was barely warm, and the electricity went out (apparently in half of the city) at 4.am the second night. A nice breakfast was included, and I had a delicious dinner at the restaurant the second night. I didn't try out the pool, but it looked inviting. The staff were very helpful, and arranged to have my six days worth of laundry done one day, by weight rather than by piece, for $11, although one sock disappeared. Mototaxis were always available right outside the hotel. I would recommend this hotel, with a real local flavor, to almost anyone who visits Iquitos and the Peruvian Amazon.

If you’re looking for a hotel in Iquitos, Peru this is the one. I am a 54-year-old woman from the USA. I had never traveled outside of the country by myself, and I was very nervous. From the very beginning, (a month before my trip) the staff made me feel at ease about traveling by myself. We messaged back-and-forth many many times they made sure there was someone at the airport to pick me up at 5:30 AM. My luggage was lost and they helped me get it back before I had to go in the jungle for two weeks. From start to finish these people made my trip so much better. The kindness and professionalism is unmatched. Especially Caroline. She was instrumental and making me feel safe during this journey. She even helped me arrange someone to take me to the market and stay with me to shop because I wanted to feel safe. It doesn’t matter if you’re coming with a group or if you’re coming alone. If you choose this place, you will be happy. As far as the rooms go, they are nice. The air conditioner works great and the water is hot. After being in the jungle for two weeks, taking showers in cold water I really appreciated that. But the customer service is what sets this place apart. Also, I would like to mention the restaurant I ate every meal there, except when I was in the jungle. The food is delicious and very affordable. The service is unbelievable. I will definitely be back.

“Great experience”

This hotel is very well located near the central plaza and many restaurants. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good each day. The pool was a welcomed refresher after a day in the heat. It is a very good value for the price. Highly recommended.

“Freezing cold room.”

Basic rooms, and the aircon blows relentlessly until the place feels like a refrigerator that cannot be adjusted. Relatively clean, with warm water and a decent bed. Staff at the reception could be a lot friendlier. The restaurant on the ground level is good !
