Beautiful old charming manor house from the XIX Century. The owner of the place is a very pleasant and attentive person. We stayed at the small house (red in the photos), which we preferred, adjacent to the main building. The small house was restored and renovated in order to be very comfortable. We had excellent breakfast in the manor house. The house was cleaned every day and fresh towels provided. There are a lot of good restaurants in the region (3-5km) which serve the famous roasted suckling pig (which is not something that I appreciate) but every restaurant has also other Very Good options. Wifi working well. Casa de Mogofores a place to return!!

“Wonderful characteristic place”

We had a great time here. We stayed here for 4 nights. The appartment was very spacious, nice and clean. It has a nice garden with a pool to rela. You will love the breakfast with a great variety food, partly homemade. The owner does everything to make you feel comfortable. During the day she served us wine, homegrown fruit and homemade soup with homegrown vegetables. In Mogofores itsself is not much to do. They serve good coffee 100m down the street, but thats about it. Within a ten minute drive there are many restaurants. Within about 30 min. you can be in Coimbra, Aveiro, at the beach or the forest of Bussaco with a spectacular view from the mountain.

“Warm-hearted hostess”

The hostess is very friendly and warm-hearted. The big and beautiful furnished appartment is located close to the beautiful manor with a beautiful dining room furnished in old style. Meals were lovingly prepared and served.

Being on a business trip, my company had booked this hotel, I had been expecting the usual chain hotel but was surprised and delighted by the Casa de Mogofores and its surrounding town and countryside. I arrived earlier than planned and spent one night in the main house, a beautiful, airy, high ceilinged room with en suite facilities, fresh cut flowers from the garden in the room was an especially nice touch. for the next two nights of my stay I was in one of the self contained apartments within in the extensive grounds of the house, this was equally comfortable and with more beautiful flowers again. Although the apartment had self catering facilities I took a traditional continental breakfast in the main house, beautifully presented each day. I stay in many hotels in the course of my work and rarely review them, but Casa de Mogofores is something special. Explore the house and gardens, for me being from the UK and finding trees in the grounds laden with vivid yellow lemons was a thrilling novelty. Catch the local village early evening for beautiful vistas and charming local architecture. I chose to go out for dinner, so for restaurants, cross over the the railway near the church and walk ten minutes along the R. Certima to the busy N1 highway, turn right for Restaurante Pompeu (3mins) or my favourites, turn left for Restaurante Regional or Restaurante O Ze ( 5 mins near BP station) look out for the local speciality, Suckling Pig (Leitão) which is delicious. There are two or three local bars near the hotel but I didn't try these. The peaceful Casa de Mogofores would be an ideal stopping point for a relaxing touring holiday, ideal maybe for writers, painters, photographers and generally sensitive folk !
