It’s a great location. Not very far from the city center (5min), but also close to the road on our way to Oviedo. The rooms are super clean and modern. They just renovated the entire hotel. It’s a family owned biz. The staff was great, very nice and helpful. The bonus was the restaurant attached to the hotel. Best bacalhau (cod fish) that I ever had (and I had a lot growing up in Brazil). The owner loves wines and let us tried different ones. Even arranged for us to visit a small exclusive winery. We will definitely come back to explore the region more.

Originally booked in for a single night on a motorbike tour of northern Portugal. The hotel is very modern on the outskirts of Chaves on the N2 southbound and very easy to find. Secure, gated car park which was ideal for the bikes, a nice terrace bar for a post-ride beer and a great restaurant serving local dishes. Rooms are small but modern, some with bath as well as shower and very clean and tidy with working wifi in the rooms and public areas of the hotel... Very good value for money and proved to be a great choice for exploring the local area and riding some of Portugal's brilliant, empty roads. Friendly helpful staff, who are keen to practice their English and an owner who takes a good interest in the guests' well being. Helped us find a motorcycle shop in town so that we could get some chain lube (this was accomplished in French as he didn't speak much English!) The restaurant is a bonus... great local food, served by friendly and helpful staff and obviously popular with locals, as there were 3 or 4 tables of Portuguese clients/families on the nights we were there. Highly recommended...

From the moment of one's arrival, the owner and staff of Albergaria Borges make their guests feel as though they are favored members of their own family. It is the warm, friendly, and sincere service that truly sets this hotel apart. The restaurant at the hotel was so wonderful that we had no interest in searching out other restaurants in Chaves. Everything that we ordered was delicious and was prepared with carefully chosen fresh ingredients. The daily recommendations were definitely worth considering as were the many "home made" items including wine, cheese, and marmalade. The owner repeatedly indulged us with additional complimentary dishes. As for the hotel, the rooms are modern, clean and comfortable and the free WiFi was trouble-free. Although the hotel is situated along a secondary highway, the overall physical setting was very attractive and enjoying a drink on their patio bar was relaxing and inviting. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

“very nice and very friendly hotel with restaurant inside”

We very friendly received and suitcases were carried by the (young) staff. We were informed about th region. The restaurant for dinner and breakfast was very good. Staff took their time to explain new dishes for us.
