Very close to Ibis Hotel, to tram lines , the center is not a walking distance; position has to be check out on the map, if you are moving on your car / motorbike. Very close to Ibis Hotel, to tram lines , the center is not a walking distance; position has to be check out on the map, if you are moving on your car / motorbike. "La terrace" is the name of public transport stop, very convenient to go around town and places as it is chaotic. The bed, toilet, desk, tv all functional, working. Only the ally / corridor had a strange light , feeling. Friendly customer care. Internet working. A special warning about sunday, everything closed around !

“A good budget hotel.”

Four of us stayed here one night as part of a cycle ride from Derby in the UK to Monte Carlo. The hotel Austria is a newish typical French commercial hotel. Four of us stayed here one night as part of a cycle ride from Derby in the UK to Monte Carlo. The hotel Austria is a newish typical French commercial hotel. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and they had draught beer available which was a bonus for three hot thirsty cyclists. The rooms were clean, comfortable and airy (although perhaps a little small by UK standards), but they were at the front, and the windows opened onto a busy square, which may or may not affect how you sleep. Rooms at the back would probably be quieter. Car parking is available in the square at the front and is free overnight, but you have to pay in the day, and the hotel has a lift which is useful with heavy bags. The wireless internet worked well, and seemed fast by my standards (but I live in a rural part of Derbyshire). There is a breakfast room, but no restaurant for evening meals, so the owners recommended (and obviously knew the owners of) the brasserie next door where we had a good meal. The breakfast was excellent, with a good selection of cereals, fruit, breads, croissants and so on. Helpful, friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms. A good budget hotel.

“Clean, comfortable no frills hotel”

Stayed 4 days visiting family. Hotel is clean and reasonably comfortable without any touches of luxury. Room was fairly basic but functional and the bed was fine. Stayed 4 days visiting family. Hotel is clean and reasonably comfortable without any touches of luxury. Room was fairly basic but functional and the bed was fine. Breakfast was a plus point with a good variety and choice. Staff spoke little English but were pleasant and welcoming. hotel situated at the north end of St Etienne with very little to reccommned it in the immediate vicinity. However the main tram line to the city centre is only 2 minutes walk and the journey takes about 10 minutes. If you want to keep costs down and dont intend spending much time in your room this will do niecely. Free wifi in the rooms as well!

“Quite basic hotel but clean”

The exterior of the hotel is in the process of being renovated so is not a pretty sight at the moment. However, the welcome was warm and friendly. The exterior of the hotel is in the process of being renovated so is not a pretty sight at the moment. However, the welcome was warm and friendly. Although no problems were encountered during our stay I don't understand how the star rating has been changed from 2 to 3 but this may be due to the excellent breakfast and the facility to receive free Wi-fi as the rooms were really quite basic but clean. The bath was small and there wasn't a proper shower; just a hand held shower which makes hairwashing tiresome! The staff were helpful and did their utmost to understand our French and to use their English. There is a brasserie serving very reasonable food just a few yards away.
