We had a great stay at the Gai Soliel. The beds were very comfortable and the sauna (with a view) was a very nice treat after a day skiing. It was easy to control the room temperature in the bedrooms and sound proofing was good. Every room is a little different but all very pleasant Breakfast was plentiful. The lounge areas of the hotel were very pleasant and it was easy to spend a day relaxing there when the skiing weather was very poor one day, and David and Valerie were able to supply drinks and a good charcuterie. There is a great mountain / skiing library. Valerie was very helpful with a very late check in (even sorting out lift passes so there was no time wasted the next day) and a late check-out and with recommendations We would also recommend using Jeff at the nearby Alaska for ski-hire who was very helpful and always ready with our gear (probably our best ever experience of ski-hire) - he gives a 20% discount for the Gai-Soliel guests. The nearby restaurants Carnotzet (for good raclette and fondue), Belle Gourmand (for Pizza) and Ò la bouche (for fine dining) were all in easy walking distance so evening meals were never a problem.

What a special experience at Hotel Gai Soleil! This place is incredible and we look forward to coming back in the future. David and Valerie were amazing - so friendly and helpful with everything. Their energy and welcoming vibe were fantastic. Everything was very clean and top notch. Breakfast was awesome each morning. The private hot tub and sauna were perfect - a beautiful view of the mountains and excellent to have after each day skiing. The hotel was quiet and peaceful, and every guest was welcoming. Les Contamines isn't a big village, so it was easy to move around on foot each night. A truly special place that we would recommend over and over again.

We stayed in this charming small hotel for a week’s skiing holiday. An extremely comfortable room, with plenty of hanging space, a large bathroom, warm radiators and hot bath water, just what’s needed after skiing. Valerie and David are very friendly, welcoming and helpful, ‘could we have a kettle for our room?’, ‘of course you can, and here are two mugs as well’. Breakfast is a superb spread with the ability to boil eggs, and a big bowl of fresh fruit as well as a fruit salad. We had a glass of wine in the bar on several occasions. We didn’t have a car so left our skis in town as we had heavy snow and it was a rather slippery 10 minutes up and down hill to the bus stop, but fine once the road cleared. I think several ski rental shops offer to store skis. . There are boot dryers but not always enough places for all the boots - get home in good time!

“Wonderful welcoming hotel, served hearty local cuisine”

Wonderful hotel, rooms with mountain Views. Lovely garden to enjoy the afternoon. Very helpful reception - making calls for us when there was an issue with subsequent transfer booking. Close to local shops. Ate there, meal local cuisine. Generous portions, and very tasty. Definitely recommend
