In my review of the Ibis Hotel in Epernay I spend some time (and verbiage) exploring the distinction between "Inexpensive" and "Cheap", with the former being a positive assessment and the latter being negative. That Ibis hotel, judged by those standards, was cheap; the Originals Arianis in Sochaux, by welcome contrast, falls into the inexpensive category, and in very positive ways. Some changes in other travel plans left us looking for a place to stay on our way to Colmar, and with fairly short notice. We almost passed up this hotel because the really low room rate set off a few alarm bells, but in the end we stopped for one night and are really glad we did. The rooms are small but well-arranged, clean, and comfortable. Public spaces are pleasant, and the breakfast was really excellent: we really enjoyed having an orange pressee machine at our disposal. Just drop a couple of oranges into a chute, press a switch, and you've got first-rate orange juice. Internet connections worked well too; the desk personnel were friendly and helpful. We can't say anything about the hotel's restaurant because it was closed that night (a restaurant closing on Friday night? C'est la guerre...), but a really good Italian place (Restaurant Le Parc) sits just across the street. On the whole: not only no complaints, but in fact a genuine bargain at a really favorable price. If our travels bring us back to Sochaux, we'll quite likely return --

“very good rooms”

very good rooms, very clean, big bathroom, big bed, several blankets, TV modern and workig breakfast good (real orange juice, salty and sweet plates, several types of hot drinks) dinner can be improved (at vegetarian choice and green vegetables almost missing)

“Spontaneous stop after a long day turned out to be a great choice”

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very modern and clean. Relaxing atmosphere. Quiet. Easy to reach from various roads leading through the area. The restaurant was closed when we stayed there (Jul 14), but there is an Italian restaurant right next door that was excellent. Good deal, highly recommende… lisää

“NICE HOTEL”

Nice hotel locate in very small town with walking distance to restaurant, intermarches and museem Staff are friendly and helpful. with free open air parking just right besides the hotel. if the room have a fridge will be ideal
