“A great place to break the journey”

We loved this place! Just looking for somewhere to break the journey from Cherbourg to the Dordogne, we came across le Germinal and thought it would fit the bill. It certainly did! The lovely old mill on its own island in the river Vilaine has been well converted. There is a small free car park just across the old narrow bridge from the hotel and there is a pedestrian bridge from it right to the hotel entrance. We were warmly welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff. Our room (it was billed as 'superior') was great. We often complain that quite smart hotels only have one chair in a double room. This one had two comfy ones - plus a sofa! There were views of the river from the windows and the hotel was very peaceful. And don't forget to book dinner in the restaurant - a real treat! Cesson-Sévigné is a lovely place. Do take time, if you can, to wander around the square and look at the gardens just beyond. And a walk along the river is very worthwhile. This is a really lovely hotel and, at 95 euros for the night, excellent value. We would certainly consider it again if we were heading this way. We were here 3rd June 2019.

“Romantic Ssetting, Really clean and Modern, Friendly staff”

This is the fourth time we have stayed at this hotel. We are always in transit from Bordeaux to Roscoff or Cherbourg and this has become the regular stop-over point. What can I say except we don't need to, want to try anywhere else. We can do the ferry run without a stop over if we wanted to but… lisää

This is the fourth time we have stayed at this hotel. We are always in transit from Bordeaux to Roscoff or Cherbourg and this has become the regular stop-over point. What can I say except we don't need to, want to try anywhere else. We can do the ferry run without a stop over if we wanted to but we are constantly drawn back to this bijoux hotel in a most romantic setting - on the banks of a little river which is a canoe paradise - lovely walks nearby and a very friendly Charlie in the nearest bar. We haven't eaten in the restaurant yet but plan to in the near future. We will keep coming back here - it's just lovely.

This is a lovely hotel in a magical place surrounded by water. The car parking is easy and the reception very well organised. This is a lovely hotel in a magical place surrounded by water. The car parking is easy and the reception very well organised. The room we had was large and well laid out with a bath and a separate shower and a separate toilet. The bed was large and comfortable. Our meal in the restaurant was perfectly cooked and decoratively presented.

“A close stop over on the way to St Malo from SW France”

A Relais de Silence venue - on the edge of the La Villaine river with a huge park area across a private bridge to car park and park dog owners have a walking area on their doorstep! A Relais de Silence venue - on the edge of the La Villaine river with a huge park area across a private bridge to car park and park dog owners have a walking area on their doorstep! Room was large with a small lounge area, well fitted bathroom. An interesting old mill conversion with a panorama restaurant overlooking the river. The menu for the evening meal gave a good range of food which was well presented and cooked. Good wine list as well. Helpful staff. Only problem - which appears to be common in many individual French hotels - poor internet connectability!
