A full house the very beginning of the week says everything. Like Thierry S. we have also stayed at the Chasseur more than 20 times and have never been disappointed – in fact it seems to get better year by year. Yann continues to deliver a superb menu with original touches; the wine list is comprehensive - as one would expect, strong on Alsace; but try the Chateau neuf du Pape, or just ask Patric for his advice. Ratio quality-price is good. The hotel is in a peaceful corner interrupted only by the church bells, but it is not far off the beaten track. Facilities have been upgraded – there is even access to a football-pitch for the young and not so young. Karine will ensure that you get a warm welcome.

“Perfect stay”

We spent one night at Au Chasseur and we were extremely satisfied. Great reception by Yan, cozy rooms, superb spa and formidable dinner with a very decent wine list. Impressive that you still can find this “down to earth”, reasonable priced and outstanding hospitable places. We will definitively re… lisää

“Outstanding restaurant”

We (extended family of 20) have been meeting up in Birkenwald annually for many years; and in between in between we have looked in on other places. We (extended family of 20) have been meeting up in Birkenwald annually for many years; and in between in between we have looked in on other places. Au Chasseur is way out ahead as our favourite hotel-restaurant. The location is peaceful, but there are activities for all ages in the vicinity; try tennis in Wasselonne, rock-climbing, mountain-biking, or the hotel pool. Recently the Wellness facilities have been upgraded, as have the bar and lounge areas. Yann Gass is an extremely gifted chef, who imaginatively uses excellent local produce and can be relied on to provide something special. The wine list is reasonably priced, strong both on Alsace vintages and wines from elsewhere (an excellent Chateauneuf du Pape); and you can always get good advice from Patrick. Breakfast is varied and very good. Children are treated very well. Karin Gass keeps a watchful eye over the whole operation, and, as we have discovered, will help out most obligingly in an emergency. This a great place by any standard.

“One couple in group of 8”

Stopped here for a one night stay on our way down to Switzerland from the UK. This place is outstanding. Rooms were immaculate. Bathroom was lovely and well equipped. Spa/pool/wellness area was stunning. We ate at the restaurant and the food was impeccable. Its also located in a gorgeous little village. Would absolutely recommend this place and would happily return.
