“Convenient no frills hotel close to Versailles”

Quiet, small hotel located in a village nearby Versailles. Clean, functional rooms without extra luxury at a reasonable price. Possibility of late arrival and breakfast on site. Comic strips available (in French) if you've forgotten your reading material !

We chose the Buc Lounge for our trip to Versailles based on review on this site and we found it to be as good or better than expected. It is a bare bones hotel--nothing fancy, but everything needed is there and very cleanly and appropriately presented. The furnishing--often spartan and built in, are supprisingly sufficient, new and very clean. The bathroom has a nice contemporary basin and the shower was very strong and easily regulated. The mattress was comfortable, and the town quiet for the night. If you are visiting Versailles, this is not walking distance to the palace, so you need to figure in from 12 to 20 euros each way per trip to and from the city, All that said, the staff is very pleasant and helpful, and the breakfast crepes were divine!!

“Ryder Cup trip”

We booked our stay through Your Golf Travel, although I couldn't fault the overall standard of their organisation, the level of the hotel was not brilliant, there was a choice of 3 hotels in the area, we had the cheaper option due to cost and it showed. We booked our stay through Your Golf Travel, although I couldn't fault the overall standard of their organisation, the level of the hotel was not brilliant, there was a choice of 3 hotels in the area, we had the cheaper option due to cost and it showed. The general cleanliness of the hotel was fine, but the bed was very hard and the breakfast, was again basic even by continental standards. As someone else has commented the toilet and shower were 'cupboards' in the room, personally I think the company could have chosen better for the money we paid. And no I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Ryder Cup trip”

We were booked into this hotel as part of a travel package to see the Ryder Cup. We paid top money for the trip and were expecting a hotel of a higher standard. We were booked into this hotel as part of a travel package to see the Ryder Cup. We paid top money for the trip and were expecting a hotel of a higher standard. There's nothing in the immediate area of the hotel, no bars or restaurants which meant if you wanted a meal in the evening it was a trip into Versailles on the bus. We ate in the only restaurant in the village one night which was a good 20min walk away down a hill... it was OK but expensive for what we had. The rooms were smaller than we expected and the W.C was basically in a cupboard in the bedroom. The shower was also in the bedroom.... no bathroom as such. Our shower was broken and the door didn't close properly and so leaked onto the floor. Having said that, the hotel was clean, the breakfast excellent and Sylvie the host was lovely. Very helpful. I would recommend this hotel as a good stopping off point if driving through France or to stay in if visiting Versailles. We felt we had been ripped off for what we paid for the trip but we put that down to the travel company and not the hotel itself.
