This hotel is NOT the usual logis, neither is it the highly polished product of a branded chain. It is instead a magical and unique experience. You feel as if you have been catapulted back into the past. And one which is both elegant and cosy, We have stayed both in the delightful and roomy chateau bedrooms and in the affordable annexe (perhaps the original stables?). Here the rooms are very small although entirely comfortable; warm and cosy, they have everything you need for a good night's sleep. They even have an excellent coffee machine. The dinner menu is limited to two or three options for each course and we have found the quality excellent. On our last visit, both main courses were delicious and the duo of saumon starter was gorgeous. And the sole server was super friendly and delightful. The small panelled dining room is very elegant and a wonderful roaring fire makes it wonderfully cosy. Friends, who have visited the Chateau on our recommendation in the summer and enjoyed eating in the courtyard overlooking the park, observed that they had the best cheeseboard ever!! There are minor negatives. The chateau may not be entirely perfect for the regular 5 star traveller who is looking for bland consistency of product. The odd lightbulb has not been replaced and the extensive wine list contains gaps where wines are unavailable. And with few staff, there can be a slight element of chaos from time to time. On our last visit for example, the twin beds that we had asked for in advance did not materialise on arrival This was quickly rectified however by the charming girl on reception who apologised for the lack of a femme de menage in the evenings and then set to and remade the bed herself. Breakfast ( 20 euros ) is more expensive than we care for so we have never tried it . But the historic atmosphere, quirky style and the intimacy and friendliness of this little gem are wonderful and it has been a treat and a privilege to stay there. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

“An unexpected treasure set peacefully between 2 lovely towns”

Helpful and attentive staff, stunning setting with charming architecture and decor, all situated in magnificent grounds.We didn't have the chance to try the sparking clean pool or sauna, but did enjoy walking alongside the forest. I could easily envisage this being a perfect destination for a multi night wedding party or conference. Our room (number 5) was situated away from the busy road so was quiet and restful. Mattress was especially firm and the room did get stuffy (we had to keep the window and door closed as we had to contain our cats) but a floor fan had been provided to help with this. Room was on the small side BUT perfect for an overnight stay and we appreciated the loo being seperate to the bathroom. The little patio area was a sweet touch. Dinner was superb - nice variety, generous portions for the fine dining price, and delicious. Loved the emphasis on French food and wine. Would seek out this property to stay again. For those planning a longer stay with more distractions, the villages a short drive either side of the Chateau look to have plenty to keep one busy, along with various parks, wineyards etc

We stayed at this hotel twice within a two-week period in September 2025. The first stay was pleasant—staff were friendly and motivated, which helped offset the hotel’s tired appearance. Unfortunately, our second visit was disappointing. The staff seemed disengaged and uninterested, which affected the overall experience. The hotel itself feels dated and could use some TLC. However, the breakfast was consistently excellent—tasty, well presented, and served by a very friendly and professional breakfast team. Pros: Delicious and well-presented breakfast Excellent and friendly breakfast staff Good service during first stay Cons: Hotel looks tired and in need of renovation Inconsistent service quality between stays Staff during second visit lacked motivation

“Lacking attention to detail”

This is a stunning building and it is situated in a large park, so ideal for dog owners but it is terribly run down. In particular the terraces and parkland are totally uncared for with weeds sprouting through the gravel drives and totally overtaking the borders to the dining terrace. Our bathroom … lisää

This is a stunning building and it is situated in a large park, so ideal for dog owners but it is terribly run down. In particular the terraces and parkland are totally uncared for with weeds sprouting through the gravel drives and totally overtaking the borders to the dining terrace. Our bathroom window looked out onto a stagnant pond, again overgrown and presumably a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Our room, in a converted stable block was OK and the bathroom was good, but the rooms are not air conditioned so I suspect in hot weather you have the choice of suffocating or being eaten by mosquitoes. The outside furniture is disappointing, the lovely dining terrace is furnished with cheap retro metal chairs and tables, the chairs uncomfortable and the tables too small and the restaurant is not as good as they make it out to be. I did find it annoying, having paid a substantial deposit on booking the room to be asked for a credit card deposit and identification upon our arrival. There was a problem with our room on arrival and the manager was particularly generous in her apology and in sorting it out for us and the senior staff were delightful and efficient.
