“great location, service and food, but choose your room”

stayed here for one night on a long cycle trip. It is at the top of a hill, great service, view and food. Our original allocated room was newly refurbished with the view, big 5 ft bed but no bath. stayed here for one night on a long cycle trip. It is at the top of a hill, great service, view and food. Our original allocated room was newly refurbished with the view, big 5 ft bed but no bath. I was desperate for a bath after cycling all day and changed my room for one with a bath. disappointment as not all rooms are the same, it was at the back, old and with a small 4'6inch bed but I didn't care because it had the longed for bath. our friends had mixed variety of rooms too, so suggest you request in advance the one you prefer.

“nice location”

stayed 5 nights on business. Nice flora and fauna on the property and nice village. Second floor room 9 faced the town/ valley, was nice with comfortable double bed and all amenities worked well. free parking. Did not have a fan or ac. Did not need ac given the cool nights, but i like sleeping with ac sound to drown out unsuspecting noises at unfamiliar places. Only heard a few loud motor cycles. Slept well! Enjoyed a couple of drinks on the patio. In my opinion the menu lacked variety, that being said, the food was good. If you order the burger, unless you like it raw, make sure you request it fully cooked. All staff were friendly and a couple of the ladies spoke english. Would stay here again.

“Deightful "proper" restaurant.”

Restaurant review, not accommodation. Fast food cafe this is not ! The menu on offer was real, chef prepared French cuisine and the service was excellent and very efficient. This is a restaurant where you are able to linger and actually taste the food rather than (all too common) simply wolfing it down and vacating the table for the next client. The menu is not particularly cheap but it is a good value offer because of the freshness of ingredients and the care with preparation and service. There is a reasonable choice rather than an over extended range and this obviously allows the chef to actually focus on fresh quality. The wine list provides a good range and is not over priced. The restaurant has huge panoramic windows looking out over the town and the surrounding area and, in summer, seating extends out onto a large terrace with the same views. Will certainly return to sample other items on the menu. (The town is well worth a visit, especially if you have time to walk the "Green Route"; a road/path painted route which winds through the town and highlights points of interest. Free map/guide from the tourist office.)

We turned up out of season and the place appeared to be shut up but a very friendly lady came to the door and we had a room on the 3rd floor with a fantastic view over the rather odd and non-exciting village of Pouzages in the Vendee, France. We were worried that we might not have hot water in the room - none at 6pm that night, or at 7:30am but miraculously, in time for my shower, I had piping hot water at 8am !! Being out of season, the restaurant was closed and sadly what was NOT a "hit" was the restaurant the hotel manager recommended......but more of this in another posting !
