“Amazing experience”

I do think they need two people at the front desk because it was always chaotic and the one person was always rushing around. Hard to ask for help or suggestions when they are so busy.

“Such a unique place!”

How often does one get to stay on the grounds of a 12th century abbey? When the opportunity came to us, we took it, and we are glad that we did. The hotel is posh. We booked a one-night stay in a garden room. Beautifully appointed, the room had a modern feel, which is quite an accomplishment for a historic building. The bed and linens were extremely comfortable. The staff was very professional. We did not book a dinner reservation because we were not sure what time we would be arriving. We had breakfast the next morning, and really enjoyed it. Here are a few tips: the parking lot is a decent walk from the hotel entrance. At the gate to the property, ask them to send the golf cart to pick up your luggage. If you stay overnight, you can explore the buildings and grounds of the abbey until midnight. Do not miss that opportunity. Besides the historic tombs of Eleanor of Aquitaine and her family, there are art installations and other things to see. In fact, get there early enough to give yourself time to see the site. We would definitely stay here again.

“Magical stay”

We chose the Hermitage as we knew that as guests you have the possibility to visit the abbey outside visitors hours. We chose the Hermitage as we knew that as guests you have the possibility to visit the abbey outside visitors hours. This did not disappoint and being around Christmas time the illuminations and decorations throughout the Abbey felt magical. The large nativity display was beautiful and no crowds around the royal tombs. I would have given 5 out of 5 if our heater in our room worked. Despite the room being cold we had a good night sleep as the bed and bedding were comfortable and there was no noise. . We liked the neutral calming colours in the room and the shower had hot water and good pressure. The bedroom and bathroom were clean. What is missing from the bedroom is coffee/tea facilities. We were lucky as we were not far from the lounge were you can grab a nice cup pf coffee. Parking is included so that is a bonus these days. Our luggage was picked up by a welcoming receptionist and our checking in was easy. If it had not been for the lack of heating in our room our stay would have been more than perfect and we would not hesitate in staying there again.

“A room with a view, of us.”

Beautiful place, beautiful rooms. Our only concerns were hearing every tiny sound from the cloister in the morning and having visitors in the breakfast area wave up as it seems they could see us in our bathroom. I wouldn't choose the cloister view rooms next time.
