Our stay at this heavenly hotel was one the most impressive hotel stays of our life despite the fact that we had opted for a small room. Had we chosen a larger room, it would definitely be the best stay. The setting is the most romantic one: an old building intertwined with nature, the soothing sound of the river accompanying you all the time, floral details making life aesthetically more pleasing. But what makes everything so perfect is the staff: I have never experienced such a candid and sincere customer care in a hotel before. You don't feel like a customer but rather like a very dear and esteemed guest of honor which is much more valuable. I was at the hotel on my birthday and my husband had asked for a flower bouquet. The lady tending the breakfast room in the mornings did prepare the bouquet herself from the hotel's gardens and it was by far the most beautiful floral arrangement I have seen. I truly fell in love with this hotel and recommend it wholeheartedly to those traveling to this area. At the breakfast, don't forget to try local apple juice and hotel's special fried egg. And some practical details: there is a free parking lot at the hotel grounds and on the nights the restaurant is closed (which you should definitely try), you can ask for the picnic kind of basket with cheese and hams, that's what we did and we loved it.

Places like Moulin de Roc touch your heart! Set it the beautiful Dordogne region in a tiny village this gorgeous place is has a warm ambience. It’s unique, historic and 5 star. The service by the staff is excellent, the food Devine and the grounds, picturesque.

Unlike the “could be anywhere” accommodations commonly offered to travelers these days, Le Moulin du Roc is memorable for its location, amenities, and service. We have visited Brantome regularly over the last two decades and stayed at the Moulin on most of those occasions including on our most recent visit in September 2024. We judge it the best among several very good accommodations in the area. Set in a garden near the village of Champagnac de Belair, an easy 10 minute drive from Brantome, the old mill and connected buildings house charming and unique rooms. The restaurant experience has remained among the best we've had in rural France. The food, as always, was well prepared and the service excellent. The Maitre d’/sommelier, who has served us on several visits, is a true professional who clearly wants guests to relax and enjoy themselves. We recommend starting dinner with an aperitif in the salon, adjoining the dining room, and ending there with tea or after dinner drink. Staying at Moulin du Roc remains, we believe, the best way to enjoy Brantome and the lovely surrounding region.

“Great restaurant - mediocre hotel”

This hotel is in a beautiful setting with lovely gardens. But there is no elevator and the rooms are up a narrow step staircase. This hotel is in a beautiful setting with lovely gardens. But there is no elevator and the rooms are up a narrow step staircase. They are dated and have low doorways and there is no daily room service to clean rooms - you must request it. The wifi and TV don’t work well and often cut out. The air conditioning doesn’t work well and the rooms get humid and hot. I don’t recommend staying here. But dinner was delicious in the restaurant - great service, delicious Michelin star food with a lovely view of the gardens and river. I highly recommend it for dinner.
