We stopped for just one night on our way from Bordeaux to Perpignan and it was the perfect choice...a nice and spacious room ,super clean and elegantly decorated , just like the whole hotel , a modern bathroom with a great shower, a perfect location in the old town and close to the restaurants area and ...last but not least a very friendly and helpful receptionist. All this made our stopover stress-free and enchanting. Well done and thanks.

Broke a journey to the far south here, stayed one night. The place looks like it has changed hands and is now called George Hotel, but is still the same building I can assure our readers. We arrived late afternoon after a circuitous route around the one-way system to find the hotel, but alas the square in front was closed off for public works, so no parking there. The municipal parking on the street elsewhere was good enough for us and free up until 9am the following day. Rooms are spacious, all en-suite and the breakfast is a buffet catering to all tastes. We were accosted by the breakfast waitress (who doubles as the cleaner too) who insisted that we ate scrambled eggs and bacon (being apparently British) and she then proceeded to the kitchen and cooked it for us. A very sweet lady and a totally unnecessary gesture on her part, but that gives you a feel for the place. There is no restaurant for the evenings, breakfasts only, but you are in the city centre and being adults can fend for yourselves quite easily. A very quiet lounge/study on the ground floor adds to the ambience. I loved the family run feel of the place and relaxed atmosphere, for a city centre hotel it would be far more stressful in another part of Europe. For us the biggest plus was that it is dog-friendly, the staff that we spoke to were all dog-owners themselves. Not a 50 metre walk away and descending down towards the river was a large botanical gardens, perfect for walking dogs off the lead and a very peaceful place to wander in. There is even a funicular lift to take you back up if you don't fancy the walk back uphill, gratis. Very quiet indeed within the rooms for a city centre location .

“Town centre 3 star”

The hotel is well located 200m from the centre. Our welcome was very good and the lady on reception helped us with bike storage. My room was clean and tidy but desperately ordinary. No tea and coffee facility. Bathroom ok, WiFi good. Perfectly ok for a 1 night stay.

We stayed at the Hotel du Commerce as part of a group. The hotel is a large hotel, well located in the old part of the town with easy access to shops and restaurants. While the other couples had good sized rooms, our room was very small with little room for two suitcases, and a tiny bathroom with separate toilet. While there was no hairdryer, there were lots of power points and the shower was good. The bed was comfortable. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good and included cereals, yoghurts, pastries, bread, spreads, juices, fruit, tea and coffee. Wifi was not working well. Overall a good place to stay.
