“Time to relax”

Main reason for the top rating is the fact, that we were able to use our room during the afternoon of the day of or check-out (4 night stay) due to a late flight, and all of this without any fuss - much appreciated! Main reason for the top rating is the fact, that we were able to use our room during the afternoon of the day of or check-out (4 night stay) due to a late flight, and all of this without any fuss - much appreciated! Other major plus points: Great air condition in our standard room (very silent), two decently sized pools and a restaurant (Kotemer) of very high quality. Granted, the rooms are rather small. Also, you will need a car to get to a nice beach, where you can actually go for a swim (we discovered La Saline after several attempts). Regardless, this hotel is certainly closer to a 4 star than a 2 star hotel.Finally, I can recommend the Spa - had a very good massage for a more or less decent price. Honorable mention to the reception staff, who were always friendly and helpful (even their small boutique has some good souvenirs!).

We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights on holiday. The hotel is listed as a 3-star hotel, but many facilities (safe, fridge, magnifying mirror, Nespresso machine, two pools, two restaurants, etc.) are more characteristic of 4-star hotels. The same is true for breakfast, which was generous and good. The hotel is located at the outskirts of St. Leu, on a hill that is overlooking a very nice view of the sea, whales included. We had a car and therefore could travel easily, recommended at this location. Ample parking, also near our room which was relatively far from the reception. A lovely garden and pleasant common areas. Our room (Guétali) was large and comfortable, and housekeeping was good. Good beds. The bathroom was large, though it suffered from a shallow sink in which the tap was located too much to the back, something that caused constant water spillage. Service was excellent everywhere throughout our stay, with special thanks to the reception and restaurant staff. We tried to drive to St. Leu for dinner, but a traffic jam and total lack of parking led us to abandon this idea after one try. We consequently ate at the hotel’s Kotémer restaurant (see separate review). A concert of Creole music and dance on one of the evenings was very enjoyable. The most evident weakness of this hotel is the (lack of) wi-fi. While this worked reasonably well at the reception and the restaurants, we had zero reception at our room, on laptop, tablet, and phones. I use a laptop for both work and entertainment, and therefore had to sit at the reception whenever I needed the internet. The phones could be used at the room using mobile data, but this consumed a considerable amount of our monthly allocation. Overall, a very positive experience if one accepts the internet limitation, recommended while staying on Reunion Island.

Stayed 2 nights in a garden bungalow which had amazing sea view, which we did not expect at all. From check-in to check-out the staff was very friendly and service-minded. The bungalow was spacious, cozy and very comfortable. We had dinner at the hotel both nights – a fantastic dinner at the Le Kotémer, very delicious food. But the pizzas at La Trattoria were not the best. The only fault at this hotel is all the birds, which destroys the opportunity to enjoy the breakfast. Both mornings there were no staff to take out dirty dishes, so it attracted a lot of birds and it seemed that the birds were used to it, because they were watching you and they approached you/the table/plates as soon as you stopped eating. It was quite disgusting. The hotel needs to do something about that. The breakfast experience aside, I would still recommend this hotel.
