“GREAT HOTEL AND LOCATION”

Stayed for 5 days in April 2026 and can’t fault it. Brilliant location for the ABBA museum and other museums around such as the Viking museum and the Gröna Lund and Mamma Mia attraction- plenty of attractions nearby too (Hasselback, Cirkus) too. Really great transport connections too - the tram stop is right outside and there’s a ferry ⛴️ stop behind too. Staff are helpful and get taxis very promptly too. Room was lovely beds excellent bathroom nice - good amenities considering it’s a 4 star I was very pleasantly surprised. I love how the Visitors bistro/bar and a cafe and brasserie all in or connected to the hotel. Would definitely recommend and return. Staff were helpful and efficient day and night sorting any questions or issues we had immediately.

“FANTASTIC stay”

Had 2 nights with the family in mid-July. The rooms are nothing special compared to what can be found at other hotels in general and the feeling of too little space is as always present :) What works to perfection, however, are all the elements that the hotel represents. The staff is young and extremely friendly and service-minded. Check-in was fast, efficient in a quiet atmosphere. The atmosphere at the hotel is relaxed and loose, and in fact you can completely forget that you are in a hotel when you move around the ground floor. Really wonderful. -This experience happens without compromising on quality. The hotel's breakfast is outstanding and shines like the brightest star among the other qualities. Stockholm's cozy amusement park is next to the hotel and is definitely worth a recommendation if you are traveling with children. The area around the hotel is buzzing with activity in the afternoon but in the morning/early afternoon it is completely quiet and you can in a 30-40 min. Morning run to experience both the quiet green areas in the parks close to the hotel and the royal palace in the old part of the city. Don't miss out on a visit to the ABBA museum next to the hotel. We will definitely be back. THANK YOU for a lovely stay.

“Disappointing”

Djurgardsvagen is a beautiful island and definitely worth visiting, but if we come to Stockholm again (and I think we will) we won't be staying at the Backstage Hotel. Djurgardsvagen is a beautiful island and definitely worth visiting, but if we come to Stockholm again (and I think we will) we won't be staying at the Backstage Hotel. It is obviously very convenient for lots of different museums - specially the Abba and Vasa museums, concerts etc., but I found it very depressing. All so dark and gloomy. A very unwelcoming and unprofessional-looking Reception area with heavy grey curtains all round, making it look like a slightly seedy nightclub. We had paid extra for a room with balcony and view, but unfortunately the view turned out to be mainly of the tram stops on the main road outside, and as we arrived on a Friday evening, when lots of people were heading for a night out at the fair next door, it was very noisy. To be fair I suspect that a Friday evening is probably the worst time to arrive as far as noise is concerned, and may have been a different experience had it been midweek. Although a large room, with windows on two sides, again it was mainly dark grey curtains and as we were on the first floor and at the front, we felt very exposed to all the people on the street, so didn't feel we could put the light on unless all the main curtains were pulled. There was also nowhere to put anything! No wardrobe, chest of drawers, nowhere to put a case apart from the bed or floor. Due mainly to the noisy position, the next morning we asked to be changed to a quieter room, and were moved to a higher floor, slightly further back. Although a smaller room, it felt much nicer and actually - weirdly - had more furniture than the larger room, and there was a least a hanging rail for some clothes. Not even the bedside tables (which resembled toadstools - trendy but impractible) had so much as a drawer to put anything in. Again, all dark grey and even the muslin-style privacy curtains in both rooms were dark grey and depressing. On the plus side, the staff were all very pleasant and helpful, and the breakfast was plentiful. The trip was actually to celebrate my (big) birthday, and my husband had contacted the hotel in advance to ask for a bottle of wine to be in the room. They had confirmed that this would be done and indeed there was a bottle and some chocolate waiting for us in the room on arrival. What I didn't know until we checked out, was that they had informed him that there would be a charge for this, to be charged to the room. Fair enough, although over the years we have celebrated several birthdays/anniversaries by going away, and have never been charged for a bottle of wine anywhere else. I was quite surprised when it was mentioned on check-out, but my husband paid as he was expecting to. However, what even he wasn't expecting was the exorbitant charge. Approximately £63! Unbelievable! I didn't know this at the time and to be honest, probably wouldn't have made an issue of it as it obviously wasn't the fault of the very sweet receptionist. But it definitely didn't leave a very favourable impression of the hotel. The surrounding area is lovely and it is a great time of year to visit as the colour of the trees was amazing, and we were lucky enough to get beautiful blue skies to set it all off. So on future trips I think we would stay elsewhere in Stockholm and just get the tram (or ferry) over to the island, which is definitely worth visiting. It is also a stop off point on the hop-on-off harbour boat, so also worth doing that way.
