We called before that we were going to have a late check in, and that was no problem at all. The breakfast was great too. View from our balcony was refreshing and very nice. Nice place in the Black Forest.

Four of us on a motorcycle tour. The Krahenbad sits on a hilside 10 minutes walk from town centre. The staff are very friendly and professional. Rooms aren't so big, but are comfortable and clean. All rooms have a balcony, shared between three or four rooms. We arrived late afternoon to stay for two nights. The lovely Natalia gave us the run-down on hotel procedures and a brief introduction to Alpirsbach. She also gave us advice on a good biking route (we knew about the renowned B500!). With that, she hauled out a crate of beer, pointed out the kettle and bade us farewell. What a wonderfully trusting and friendly lady. If you come here, you simply must sit out on the terrace which is accessed beyond reception. We spent a good few hours here just chilling and chatting in the warm evening sun, looking out over the valley. As for Alpirsbach. . . what can I say? It's a small town with several restaurant/bars. Visit in mid July and you're likely to be there for the Hoeker Fest. This is a huge street party hosted by the local brewery and it's a great weekend! Live music, food stalls and bars abound. We found the locals to be approachable and friendly. I would definitely come back here. Breakfast is your traditional continental type and very tasty. On checking out, we blagged a cup of coffee after loading our motorbikes ready for departure and a day in the saddle. Again, staff were so obliging and pleasent to deal with, it really made our stay here one of the best in our 12 day tour. Ok, the hotel is up a hill that inambulant people will struggle with, but that should be overlooked for the pleasure of staying at the Krahenbad; and taxis are a short hop from town centre. I'd recommend the Krahenbad for couples, groups of almost any size, romantics and families. Sititng in the Black Forest, it's a perfect base for walkers, cyclists and bikers. We saw loads of signs for 'Wanderwegs' - with distances - for long and short walks/cycle routes. Alpirsbach is obviously at the heart of the Black Forest.

If you're looking for a quiet, clean and comfortable hotel at a budget price from which to explore the beautiful area of the Black Forest then The Krahenbad should fit the bill nicely. We booked this hotel well in advance of our trip and we where given a spacious room at the top of the hotel with glorious views down the valley toward the town. The room was a little tired in it's decor but everything worked, the beds where clean and comfortable and was serviced every day. Each day breakfast was simple but plentiful and Natalia always had a cheery smile and a warm good morning. There is a large car park below the hotel as well as a number of parking spaces above the rear of the property. If I should visit the Black Forest again I would happily book with Natalia again.
