“Still impressed”

Second time there and I'm still impressed. The hotel is well appointed and pristine. The staff is most helpful. Parking is easy and my room was quiet. Breakfast was perfect and the first day my eggs and bacon were cooked to order because there were just a few guests for breakfast. Lovely.

“Excellent breakfast, good basic hotel ”

Clean, friendly staff. I miss airconditioning, and if not provided, I would want to have mosquito nets on the windows. The breakfast is very nice, lots of choice for this hotel class. Rooms against the back are best if you need quiet to sleep.

If you need to check in when Reception is closed, you will get a code sent to your email to access the locker containing your key cards for the room. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. However, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for wheelchair users as there are a few steps at the entrance with no ramp. Also, the lift is very small and may not be large enough for a wheelchair. I was on a trip from the UK, due to being in a band performing at Straßenfest. Hotel was in a great location for this, as directly opposite the main stage. If you stay during this festival you definitely will hear loud music until midnight every night. You have to openyour windows in the hot weather as there is no air-conditioning. Even with the windows closed, the music was still loud. Due to the European football also taking place at the same time, a lot of cars drove round repeatedly - beeping their horns loudly and shouting - into the early hours (as a celebration that their team won). So noise is definitely something you will notice. Bring earplugs if you need a lot of sleep. I have read on other reviews that there are two types of room – noisy ones facing the street and quieter ones with a view. My daughter was in what would be classed as a ‘quieter’ one. However, she could still hear the street traffic and festival noise just as loudly as we could in our room which was directly above the street. When I booked, I was in perfect health. A few weeks prior to the visit, I suffered a back injury that was making my mobility very painful and difficult. So I emailed in advance to the hotel requesting a shower seat/stool and a disabled accessible room. There was no seat provided for the shower, and I cannot stand for very long, so this made washing quite difficult. However, they had put my room next to the lift so that I did not need to walk far. One inexpensive basic that is missing: there are no hooks on the back of the bathroom door. The bathroom is very small with an en suite shower (no bath). Being able to hang up a bathrobe/dry clothing would’ve been really helpful - as I had to wedge my clothing onto the radiator instead. Unlike the UK, there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. There is a room on the ground floor to the left of the lift where hot drinks are available for free and additional cold drinks are for sale. We bought a kettle from Lidl to enable us to have hot drinks in our room. The towel rail in the bathroom is positioned at a height of around 7 feet. Due to my mobility/reaching/stretching problems, and being 5’2”, I could not reach the spare toilet roll that they had left on top of the towel rail. I could pull towels off but was unable to hang them back up, so had to leave towels to dry over the chair in the bedroom. Soap/hair and body wash is provided along with towels and a hairdryer. However, robes are not. The first thing we noticed, when entering the room was that the smoke alarm was covered up. No idea why this was, and a bit concerning. Only one pillow available per person in the room. I had hoped for the standard 2 pillows each (as I am having to wedge a pillow during the night between my knees to help take pressure off my spine). One of our band lives in Backnang. He was supposed to sort out a wheelchair for me but this was not available. Therefore, 90% of my trip was spent in the hotel room. Whilst the hotel has a lift, it is quite small. The lift fits around 2 average sized people with 2 small cabin suitcases. There was some confusion at breakfast. I asked staff for Soya/non dairy milk for my cup of tea and was given liver sausage paté instead !!. Due to my dietary requirements, I had to provide most of my own food for breakfast. The hotel does have dairy free spread but no dairy free milk. The only vegan breakfast items were the bread rolls, juice, tea/coffee and fresh fruit salad. We stocked up from a Lidl nearby for dairy free milk and food (cheeze, facon, hummus etc). The staff allowed me to keep vegan cheese, vegan bacon and hummus that had been purchased externally in the hotel fridge. They also labelled it with the room number. Due to my mobility issues, staff allowed my daughter to bring up a tray of breakfast food to the room for me to save me having to walk down to the dining room. Breakfast has quite a selection though - cereals, bread rolls, cheese, meats, scrambled egg, fresh fruit salad, fruit juices, sausage, bacon, and pastries. I was probably a unique and difficult case with both the mobility and food issues. The staff did their best and we managed to muddle through. Whilst I don’t have any complaints, providing nondairy milk should be standard at most restaurants/hotels these days. The room we stayed in was not specifically disabled adapted. I do not think the hotel had any. Had this of been the UK, a Disabled adapted room would’ve been an option and it would’ve been more comfortable for me.
