“An inexpensive hotel with a great outdoor dining area.”

My family were here in the heat of summer so it was delightful to sit outside and enjoy our dinner as the sun set, enjoying a locally brewed beer. The triple room was comfortable and modern. The WiFi was slow but it seemed to work effectively. The morning breakfast was friendly and pleasant.

A Floridian at a small country inn in the Kaiserstuhl region. Not such a surprise when you look at the accessability and travel and culinary opportunites in this area. Hotel Jauch's Loewen is a small gem in this region. Their food (especially seasonal preparations) and wines (including from their own vinyards) are a delight. Service was impeccable, even when the hotel was booked for a private function, and the restaurant was moved to the second floor. I commed the owners (Mr. and Mrs. Jauch) for their excellent service, but am not forgetting the service efforts of their entire personnel). Breakfast is excellent, even on a sunday at 0700 h.

“Good option for visiting Freiburg and surroundings”

First thing, you must be travelling by car. This is really a small village in the middle of the German countryside. I stayed here because hotels in Freiburg were fully booked. First thing, you must be travelling by car. This is really a small village in the middle of the German countryside. I stayed here because hotels in Freiburg were fully booked. And it was a very good surprise. Family-run, cosy, clean and with an excellent restaurant. It´s close enough to Freiburg so you can spend the day there. I also took some time to drive around and came across other nice villages, like Breisch am Rhein (really worth visiting). Weather was good, so I had dinner outside. Many families from the region. Good beer and good food. Nobody speaks much English, but they understand it and it was fun trying to communicate in my broken German. The room was a little noisy during the day because of traffic, but quiet at night. Really nothing to complain about. I do suggest staying here if you want to explore this part of Germany by car.

I can't speak to the quality of the rooms at all, so I won't. This review will focus on the restaurant only. I was there recently as one of a large family group celebrating a birthday. The overall impression is that of a warm and inviting facility, with good service and fabulous food. I did not pay for the meal (my father-in-law did) so I can't really comment much about the prices. Looking at the menu I did see that it is, in my opinion, a more expensive Gasthaus/Hotel than many in the area. However, the cook clearly pays a lot of attention to, and takes pride in, the quality of the meals and their presentation. We had a Wildkraeutersalat with Basalmico as a starter - very nice - followed by their Kalbsplaetzchen und Rinderfilet in Cognacrahmsauce mit Gemuese, Kroketten und Spaetzle. Dessert was a Dessertteller mit Fruechten. This was all promptly served, hot, beautifully prepared and all-in-all a very attractive meal, if i can say that. The wine lit is good albeit on the pricey side. The restaurant was busy throughout but we saw no degradation in service. I recommend Jauch's Loewen highly if you wish to enjoy a better-than-normal meal.
