“Lovely hotel in old town Kronach”

Hotel located in old town Kronach. Just a nice place for a romantic evening, large room, comfy bed, bathroom with a tub and floor heating. In-house restaurant with about 15 craft beers, excellent IPA and Thüringer Bratwürstel.

I was not aware about this hotel location, quality, value. When we pulled at 10 pm next to the hotel after struggling finding it, I thought this might not be good. When I got the room I Was shocked how nice it was, heated bathroom floor, nice shower, nice bed. The breakfast was great too.

I've stayed in many hotels all over this region since 1989 on business and the Stadthotel is one of the best. We stayed four nights (actually at the time of this writing we are on our third night) and it's just been terrific. I visited the hotel personally in the summer of 2016 to choose the room for my clients. They got room 400 in the "Antla" part of the hotel. This is the building with the superb Franconian restaurant and micro brewery. The room is large, a junior suite, with a cool balcony and view to the fortress. I had a double room alone on the first floor with a very large bathroom, all marble with a big walk-in shower. Well let me tell you, if you're like me and a light sleeper you'd better shut your windows tight and use the air-conditioning because the sound of the #%}{!! church bells ringing every 15 minutes (no joke) will drive you insane. I had my windows open and this just killed my first night. I was a zombie the next day. I asked for another room, a quieter one, and the wonderful fellow at reception gave me 215 around on the side. Now I could enjoy the lovely fresh air and those blasted hells bells were just faraway tinkles. Fantastic food and beer at incredibly reasonable prices considering the quality. Very good breakfast from a large buffet. Only thing I did not like was the coffee. Many hotels have switched over to the Automat method and I hate it. The coffee comes out bitter and weak. I'd gladly pay a couple Euro more for a pot of filter coffee in the morning. Please scrap the fancy machine and you'll bring your score with me from 95 to a perfect 100. And note to the Bürgermeister. Do your guests a large favor and shut off the bells at 10 like many other towns do in Europe. Who needs to know that it's 1,2,3,4,5 in the morning? And at 6 a.m. the bells just go insane, enough to wake the dead!

Just come back from a 2 night stay. The hotel was very good. Was a little bizarre at first, as when we checked in and the chap offered to show us to our room, it meant we had to leave the hotel. Just come back from a 2 night stay. The hotel was very good. Was a little bizarre at first, as when we checked in and the chap offered to show us to our room, it meant we had to leave the hotel. The hotel has another building 70 metres up the road, turn left and then another 30 metres down that road. We were staying in that. It didn't matter, just a little odd. The staff were very friendly and the room was very nice. It could of done with being air conditioned as it was extremely hot and there was very little breeze. Sleeping was hampered by this. I am planning on going back to Kronach next year and will look to stay here again.
