“Nice family run hotel”

Easy to find and very friendly Italian family run hotel and restaurant. Room and facilities were fine and the restaurant was very good. The only downside is that it is near to the railway which could get very noisy at night with freight trains.

During a previous visit to Marburg, we'd stayed in one of the larger, more central hotels. Time and price constraints this time dictated a different approach and I'm glad to say that the Hotel Cala Luna turned out to be a great find. Located about a kilometer north of the Marburg Bahnhof, it's a small family-run hotel; the rooms are upstairs, while an Italian restaurant occupies the ground floor. The proprietress, Frau Pia, was very helpful, friendly, and efficient. The rooms were neat, clean, fairly well-appointed, and of the typically snug size common in Europe. The hotel is located off the main road a little, so no problem at all with traffic at night, nor any bother from the rail lines that run about 80 meters to the west behind other buildings. Rooms overlooking the front of the hotel seem more prone to get some noise from evening restaurant patrons at the outside tables. I think the one thing I'd do differently next time would be to unplug the small refrigerator that was cleverly hidden in our room's writing desk, since the compressor fan was a little noisy. But that's a minor point. There's parking space behind the hotel, but we didn't use that. Since our visit was just during the weekend, it was okay to use the spacious parking lot of the business directly across the street (on condition that the lot was cleared by 7:30am Monday morning). Breakfast was provided each morning in the downstairs restaurant along standard lines: breads, spreads, cheeses, cold cuts, orange juice, etc. Overall, the competitive price and the comfort of the HCL make it a very nice alternative to the expensive hotels closer to the town center.

“Small, but comfortable hotel- good for exploring Marburg!”

This hotel is not in walking distance to the sights of Marburg, but it is close enough to explore this charming city! Our room was comfortable with a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. This hotel is not in walking distance to the sights of Marburg, but it is close enough to explore this charming city! Our room was comfortable with a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. It is noteworthy, that we even had a small fridge, which is not the usual feature in hotels in Germany! Breakfast was very good with a variety of foods to send anybody away well fed for a day of exploring the city or the area. Parking is available beside the hotel. Travellers please note: there is no elevator, and there is no air conditioning.

“HOMELY ATMOSPHERE”

Run by a sweet & loving family. Food is extremely good. Rooms are quite compact but clean. They have excellent window shutters which blocks all the light out. Location is not too far from the highway. A good place to rest while travelling long distance.
