Special place with special atmosphere. very peaceful area on the beach. Nice nature environment for walking and taking pictures. A good base to travel in the surroundings and the beautiful nature around. Very good food options in the near city.

Something to remember. Good design, modern, cozy and viking's at the same time. Somebody had an idea to settle the hotel there. Dogs friendly staff. The folk but very true ferrymen just nearby. Exeptional library in hotel. Pleasant sauna.

I have spent last weekend there. I didn't expect anything, so the surprise was real. I will start from the breakfast. If you go there, you will have super-tasty breakfast with Yogurt from the local place, bread that is melting in your mouth, fish... And the view from the restaurant - Wow! I am coming from South Europe and the whole island was something new. For me was like I was in some film. It is a good idea to take bicycles and made a tour around the island. There is a network from bicycle paths, and the ride is quite easy. We did 20 km without sweating and there are lots of places to enjoy. Concerning the hotel, it has sauna, steam bath, a small swimming pool, massage... Not some large place, but really sweet and nice. Especially after the whole day being out hiking, cycling, etc. The rooms are really spacey and comfortable. All rooms are quiet since there is nothing around and the hotel is at the end of the road. There is a bus/train that is free for the guests and takes you to the town. But, by the car, or bicycle the town is not far away. At the end, it is a real value-for-money.

“Some quirks but amazing setting”

We arrived here shattered, after cycling the 60 odd kilometres over from Stralsund, and the thatched roofed hotel emerged like an oasis in front of us. We arrived here shattered, after cycling the 60 odd kilometres over from Stralsund, and the thatched roofed hotel emerged like an oasis in front of us. To make the arrival more magical, we had to to take a rowing boat across a small stretch of water (no need to row yourself, a chap does it for 2 Euros p.p.). The setting is truly beautiful by a little harbour with swallows dancing around everywhere. It's about 25 min walk into Baabe itself or you can take the little tourist "train" from the hotel (though we didn't find it 100% reliable). Boats leave from here also. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was pretty dated - plenty of pine furniture - but it was comfortable and had a little balcony to sit on with a view over the water. The bed was comfortable too. Bathroom was also somewhat dated but comfortable. The restaurant is quite cute with a mock wood house and island mural. You can eat outside also. We found dinner here to be a tad bizarre. We reserved both nights we were here, and it didn't seem that busy either, but on both occasions our starters took over an hour to appear, the rest wasn't much faster. Food wasn't all that great either. It seems like the chef us trying to be creative (curry bread, vanilla salt, etc) but can miss the mark. My turbot was very bland. The 'lemon tart gone wrong' was deconstructed to an inch of its life and really did look like someone had dropped it. The cheese board of local cheeses with fig mustard was pretty nice but I would have liked a few crackers instead of breadsticks. The fried goats cheese with avocado was very tasty but my vegetarian husband had to have it two days in a row as the menu didn't change, and that was the only main course that was an option for him. The buttermilk ice cream was delicious. Staff serving were all very friendly and the breakfast here was good. My husband really enjoyed that they even had vegan pate. The yoghurt with Rote Gruetze (stewed red berries) was really good. Unlike dinner, breakfast was managed at an amazing speed and everything was refilled promptly. Just as well, as it got very busy. There is a spa area and small pool in the hotel also. A few quirks but we did have a lovely time. Staff were nice and the setting takes some beating.
