“Lovely old worlde German hotel.”

We were not sure about this hotel at first, no reviews on TA (…..come on guys keep up the good work)! only 1 night as part of a 5 week touring holiday around Europe. We were not sure about this hotel at first, no reviews on TA (…..come on guys keep up the good work)! only 1 night as part of a 5 week touring holiday around Europe. We thought it might have been one of those hotels that had rested on its past recommends and maybe was not that good after all! Beautiful, old worlde German hotel, lots of wood inside and out. Nice large modern room, looked newly refurbished, hardwood flooring, small fridge, no air con, but opening windows onto the balcony and although on a main road it was fairly quiet during the night as regards traffic. My only comment was that a bit more care was needed on the cleaning, grout between the shower tiles had started to grow some black mould which could be easily rectified and some dust “strings” in the ceiling corners of the room, again easily sorted, wood wardrobe fronts had finger marks on them. Bed was a little on the firm side, sheets clean but showing age (bottom sheet had a small hole in it). All the staff were lovely, professional and very helpful speaking good English. We had an a la carte booking in the restaurant which was in a lovely dining room. Because we were on week 4 we just went for a main course. Hubby had a rump steak which was cooked perfectly, very tender and really tasty with roast potatoes, bacon and onion. I decided on 2 mini quiche (pastry was like a soft filo, would have been perfect with a shortcrust), with feta and spinach and a salad, they were really tasty and salad full of crunch, all fresh vegetables. Both meals simple but really delicious. A decent wine list. Parking was good, opposite side of the road but their own large car park. The train station is also across the road so would imagine a great place to stay if you did not have a car. Apparently a big walking area here. Breakfast was very good, had smoked salmon on which was a nice change to the hams. There is a Spa area which we did not see and they provided dressing gown and towels in the room. Would definitely recommend.

“Lovely country hotel”

This must be one of the best country hotels we've stayed in for many years. We enjoyed it so much, we've already booked to go back for a longer stay! This must be one of the best country hotels we've stayed in for many years. We enjoyed it so much, we've already booked to go back for a longer stay! The staff were all very friendly, helpful and importantly at this time, safety conscious (masks worn all the time and kept a safe distance where possible). We had the Landhaussuite; this is a very large room with a adjacent seating area (2 x 2-seater settees), large bathroom with a whirlpool bath and separate shower. A reasonable size balcony gave pleasant views over the village and surrounding hills. In terms of cleanliness, the room was spotless - I even checked the top of the picture frames and couldn't find any dust! Well done to the cleaning staff. Service in the restaurant was again friendly and safe. The tables were nicely spaced apart without making it look obvious! While the menu read like a typical german restaurant, the quality was very good. There was a small amuse bouche and some extremely tasty bread. We decided not to have a starter - probably a good decision as I would have been able to eat all the main course. The wine list had a reasonable selection of german and italian wines - the Weissbergunder we selected was delicious and only 29 Euros - for a 4* hotel I though that to be a very good price. There is some nice walking and cycling in the immediate area - we hope to do some on our next visit. The hotel has two mountain bikes available to rent. Unlike most hotel rental bikes, these are two quality (for those interested, one had XT groupset and the other XTR). Clearly somebody in the hotel appreciates good bikes. Oh, almost forgot, the hotel has gone to the expense of installing hand sanitisation stations in many areas of the hotel.

Not to be underestimated: power sockets galore (unfortunately only weak internet).

“Typical German family run hotel”

This hotel has been family run for a long time, you can see it becuase of the several extensions it has become over time. I got a very spacious room with view over the valley. comfortable bed, siiting area, writing desk and nice bathroom. Wifi in the room is free and of sufficient speed. breakfast … lisää

Wifi in the room is free and of sufficient speed. breakfast is in buffet style and has the typical german selections. Decided to have dinner as well, was really good. All in all a nice stay.
