“A hidden Gem”

We would not have chosen this hotel based upon its web site at the time, but it was booked by our relatives who live in the area. The room was fantastic. We would not have chosen this hotel based upon its web site at the time, but it was booked by our relatives who live in the area. The room was fantastic. It was quite large with a small annex containing a sofa and a desk, etc. It’s on-suite shower room was approximately 6m x 2m and fully tiled with WC, two hand basins and a double shower rose wet room at one end. Breakfast was of the continental style but eggs were available. The manager was the son of the owner and very helpful. The hotel is located in a quaint historical part of the town with narrow streets and 18th century timber framed buildings. The hotel has just 5 dedicated parking spaces but we had no problems finding a free parking place throughout our nine night stay. One small issue that some might be concerned with is the near adjacent church and its bells that strike between 6:30 and 22:00 every day like many church bells throughout Germany. My wife thought she would not be able to get a good nights sleep but she slept through the lot. Another positive is the hotel’s sister restaurant just up the road (with further parking spaces). 18th century timbers inside and out, with oodles of character and charm, a great menu (one hidden copy in English) and very friendly and accommodating staff. Will we go back? You bet!

Relaxed atmosphere at the hotel and the restaurant, which are run by a very friendly and hard working family. The hotel has both older, simple rooms along with modern ones. Rooms are clean, comfortable and cozy. Hotel is situated next to a beautiful, old, picturesque church that you can literally look out the window to see and hear the lovely bells chime. The location of this hotel is ideal for casual walks to nearby stores and restaurants, along with bike rides through the safe village and to the bike paths. It is also very close to railways that connect to larger cities like Dusseldorf and Cologne. Traveling solo, I felt very safe, comfortable, and taken care of. Thank you to the owners and their son for such a wonderful place to stay.

“Very friendly small Family Hotel”

The hotel is located in Westerholt, which is part of the city Herten, with houses going back to early 1600! They are very customer oriented and helpful. The rooms are traditional and some are renovated to modern standards. Prices are very reasonable.

Was here only for two nights, but was very impressed with the attitude of the staff. Breakfast was a very relaxed affair, no strict times, and they made the eggs to order. Was here only for two nights, but was very impressed with the attitude of the staff. Breakfast was a very relaxed affair, no strict times, and they made the eggs to order. Happy to answer any questions and were very helpful. The bells in the church opposite are loud, but they don't toll during the night (thankfully). There is no one on reception in the evening, but they are contactable. Town is dead at night with only three options to eat (pizza place, pub and high-end restaurant). The public transport options are limited and it's best to have a car. I didn't get the free Wifi working, but it wasn't a problem for me.
