Hotel Schloss Ort was the perfect hotel for our one night stay. One of the traits I look for at a hotel, is the initial greeting from the front desk; our experience exceeded expectations. Leah could not have been nicer and more helpful, a great first impression. Our room was large and very comfortable, and we slept great. As repeated by others the breakfast offered many options, was enjoyed in a nice setting and with very friendly staff. The owner checked on us a number of times and could not have been more pleasant. When in Passau, put this small hotel on your list. Lastly, the town of Passau is a gem, definitely worth spending time there.

Schloss Ort This hotel distinguishes itself as the only located directly on the Inn river that is not separated by a street and the noise of traffic. It is a cozy, clean abode with a tiny elevator. Our room (#11) was quite spacious and felt like a one bedroom apartment. The staff are fantastic, competent and friendly. They have a wonderful tradition of a serve yourself after hour honor bar cocktails that allowed us to enjoy beverages, including wines and pre-mixed bottled cocktail drinks on their lovely terrace in a quiet romantic evening as other guests did likewise. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet the next morning. A homemade Apple strudel was phenomenal. Once again, their lovely terrace with a stunning view of the river is a winner and probably is not surpassed by any of the landlocked hotels we saw around town. We were there for one night preparing for a cruise the next day. Some of you may be considering this and I would strongly recommend this quaint boutique property. We have traveled the world, and I would rate this as a best of Passau option.

The hotel location is central. The views from the hotel windows are gorgeous, overlooking the hills and the Danube river. breakfast is a great meal with significant variety and choices. The staff were very helpful and courteous and conversed in English.

Minutes (walking), as in single digit minutes - from restaurants, shopping, historical sites, a beautiful public waterfront park, and right on the riverfront, you cannot do better than this. Breakfast has a huge selection of hot and cold foods, European and American. I will be dreaming of the morning cappuccinos with Apfelkuchen while chatting with the friendly proprietors and looking out over the river to the Medieval monastery on the other side. At night, it only gets more beautiful as the lights come on. There was nothing the staff wouldn’t try to do for us - so very helpful! If only it had air conditioning for the hot days. Thank you, Hotel Schloß Ort (“Castle Place”) for a wonderful stay!
