Decent food, friendly people, lovely surroundings (you get the forest feeling), well situated, a big neat room with a good bed, all this for a little price. If you prefer city-style hotels, with lounge-elements, or lots of facilities, then this is not the type of place you should book. But if you like this Gasthof-style (as I do), as a base to discover an area, or to have a place to sleep and eat when crossing the country, when you like that German Forest feeling with wooden sculptures, the smell of pines and locals coming to have their schnitzel and pint, then this is a lot of value for little money.

“Quiet Country Hotel”

Country hotel sited on the edge of the forest, offers good, clean accommodation. The restaurant is traditional and has a lovely outside terrace. There is a wide selection of home cooking, with some regional dishes. A good area for both safe walking and cycling.

The hotel is located near Trier and Luxemburg, at the foot of the forest on the hills behind it. It attracts many cyclists and walkers especially in weekends, as well as motor bike enthusiasts. The hotel is located near Trier and Luxemburg, at the foot of the forest on the hills behind it. It attracts many cyclists and walkers especially in weekends, as well as motor bike enthusiasts. There is a large terrace or beer garden in front of the hotel/restaurant. Our room was in fact two rooms (13 and 14) behind one door. One of the rooms was a single bed room, the other a double bed room. Very convenient when traveling with a child or a third person. The bathroom served both rooms, with a new and large walk-in shower and a good washing basin and a mirror with build-in night light to find your way at night. Each room has a flat screen TV, the double room had a seating area. The hotel and the restaurant are separate businesses. Breakfast is served not in the restaurant but in the breakfast room. There is ample choice and the service is friendly. As often is the case, simple black tea being out, only fruity teas and infusions in large quantities. Staff members often don’t understand the difference when they are not tea drinkers themselves. The restaurant’s biggest asset is the large beer garden in summer. The food is good but simple, and the choice large enough but traditional, and priced accordingly reasonable.

“Don't rely on your GPS!!”

Firstly do not rely on your GPS or cell phones to find this hotel! We were driving around for 30 minutes trying to find it...it would seem that the major roads have changed recently in that area & neither our GPS or Google maps were of any help! Firstly do not rely on your GPS or cell phones to find this hotel! We were driving around for 30 minutes trying to find it...it would seem that the major roads have changed recently in that area & neither our GPS or Google maps were of any help! That being said the hotel was clean, comfortable & friendly. The rooms are a reasonable size but the bathrooms, although with a great shower, are tiny. The room was comfortable and the hotel quiet. As we arrived late we decided to eat in the hotel ...a buffet for €17. This was very overpriced for food that had been kept warm for several hours. The food was unexciting & boring so a bit of a rip off. Vegetarian ...you'll be disappointed. Breakfast was better ...the usual continental. I wouldn't return I'm afraid....even if I was lucky enough to find it next time!
