“Excellent Experience”

I spent three nights there. The hotel looks clean, accessible and colorful. The people are so wonderful, helpful, and extremely kind. Breakfast was so great. If I got the chance to visit Saarbrucken someday, definitely, Bruchwiese will be my choice. Highly Recommended +.

Stayed 2 nights at the hotel. Good location, just outside the city centre, about 1,5 km from the old city, so at walkable distance. The hotel is a short bicycle ride from the SaarRadweg, about 1,5 km too. The hotel is in a quiet environment and has a nice garden and terrace. A drinks trade is next to the hotel and a Netto supermarket at the other side of the street. We had a big, clean room with balcony. The balcony needs however a deep cleaning and it was a pity there was no furniture on it. The bathroom had signs of wear and tear, e.g. it was not possible to close the window in the bathroom and there was some water coming out from under the toilet. Breakfast is OK without being outstanding. Very cosy garden, a nice place for the lunch and food was tasty and the wine was yummie.

“A quiet little hotel”

Excellent and friendly staff. Breakfast was adequate. Good quiet location and free parking. A pleasant terrace area. But the room needs slightly updating. In lobby and room with some smells. Well suited for short stays.

The best two assets about this hotel are its convenient location and quietness as it's away from the main areas of Saarbrucken, yet still easily accessible by bus or walking. Expect no frills: your room really is just a room. It has a hostel feel. Don't expect any extras or added value. There'll be no extra amenities (but count them: a previously and will be reused bottle of shampoo/body wash, a blow dryer and a bottle of sparkling water). We were visiting family in the area so we were able to survive on just a room as it was a place to return to at the end of the day. Language & Staff: We had minimal interaction with the staff and it seemed that they did not speak much English, especially at the front desk. The wifi was NOT working (network couldn't be found) and the front desk was unfamiliar with how to fix it. Building: Be very aware that there is NO elevator for this old building. We stayed in the largest room (Room 22) which could only be accessed by 5 flights of stairs! Be prepared for a workout, especially if you have heavy suitcases! You're left on your own, especially after hours once the restaurant next door is closed. The hotel building is accessed only with your room key. There is no staff at night. It's a very old building that relies on heaters for each room. It seems like the restaurant, not the hotel, is the driving force for the staff's focus. We did eat at the restaurant and the food wasn't too bad (not a German food expert here so I won't attempt to rate it and call myself a food blogger!). There is also a liquor/beverage store called "All Drinks" (or what I called "All Drunks") next door, as well as a grocery store "Netto" across the street--so Hotel Bruchweise is in a very convenient location. Bathroom: This was the room that really got to me, especially the shower. It was SO small and was just a simple stall with a flimsy curtain that seemed to attack and stick to me with the slightest breeze. There were no shelves in the shower so shampoo bottles etc had to be placed along the shower rim floor. I'm 5'3" and even I was having problems bending over to reach the bottles without bumping my derriere into the wall or knocking the hot/cold water controls and giving myself a surprise change in shower temperature. Water pretty much got everywhere. The first thing I smelled walking into the room was the stench of a poorly ventilated bathroom. Towels seemed to stay damp and one had to open a window, which then (in December cold) turned my lotions, crèmes and toiletries into a condensation mess. Bed: The bed in this largest room of the hotel is really just two 5" mattresses parked next to each other. There is a split in the middle and you are sleeping with two separate duvets. The mattresses are very uncomfortable and hard--you can feel the springs in them. Definitely not comfortable. The wacky décor in Room 22 isn't exactly soothing on the eyes. I'm told that the other rooms are more cute and themed. Lack of Housekeeping: Very disappointing! Because we weren't up by 9 am, we missed housekeeping. Basically if you're not out of your room in time, they will not clean your room. During our 9-night stay there, they missed cleaning our room twice. Boo. --Know that there is a serious lack of electrical plugins in the room. We had to unplug the TV, minibar and bedside lamps just so we could charge our devices. --This hotel is definitely NOT for the business traveler, given the wifi issues and lack of plug ins.
